Memory is for living

I remember a very popular composition topic in high school: If memory can be transplanted. At that time, I thought, isn't that memory memory? It's so awesome. I can store all the content in the chip. Exams are small cases. If I want to share my memory, I can copy it to others. Just look. But our life is not only about exams, work, but also various emotional behaviors. If there are happy and happy memories, there must be sadness and pain. So what happens when memory is actually memized?
In the play, everyone, even babies, has a grain implanted under the skin behind the ear, which records all personal experiences and can play back the memory through the remote control, and the details of the playback picture can be enlarged. This internal memory takes the name of grains, the food that everyone needs to survive. Except that the shape is more like rice grains, it is probably that everyone can’t do without grains, and of course, it can’t be separated from memory. So what does this little grain bring?
It is undeniable that accurate memory gives people a lot of convenience: they can share their beautiful past with friends, they can let parents and nanny check whether there are pedophiles or pedophiles, and they can help police catch criminals... However, while technology brings convenience to human beings, it also degenerates human beings. The hero Liam obviously forgot the name of Lucy, the hostess of the party; Lucy also didn't recognize Liam after opening the door. Liam expressed politeness and wanted to stick his face, but Lucy avoided him. If memory is really memorized, the human hippocampus will naturally gradually shrink, and the frontal lobe responsible for emotion and social interaction will probably degenerate with it. If this day does come, what is the difference between humans and machines?
Liam, who was at a low point in his life, obviously began to question his wife Fi. In the obsessive-compulsive replay party, Fi interacted with his old friend Jonas, like a detective, not letting go of all the clues, and finally found that Fi was breaking shoes with Jonas. Fi tries to lie to cover up the truth, but each lie is debunked by Liam's precise memory playback. Liam is like crazy: he forces Jonas to delete all memories of him and Fi; he suspects that the child is his own, and asks Fi to tune up the memory of having an affair with Jonas to see if he is wearing a condom. Memories are a very personal thing: Liam was embarrassed when black buddies asked Liam to tune up his failed interview memory for everyone to watch; then when Fi gave Liam the memory of cheating, Liam couldn't bear to be "naked" The truth about her - the one she loved so much was screaming happily under other men; Fi couldn't face the wrong self at all, and her self-esteem was completely submerged in shame. This made the rift between them never repairable.
I totally understand Liam's frantic behavior. Because I have done it, or am doing it; but the paranoia of the so-called truth-seeking is driving me farther and farther from trust and happiness. Fi is remorseful, but Liam clings to Fi's past mistakes, causing him to end up alone. There is no longer her in his life, and the happy memories of the empty room also make him miserable. Finally, he realized that all the pain was caused by grain. He cut open the skin and took out the grain with pliers, and the joy and pain of the past disappeared in a flash. The film ends abruptly here. I think, without grain, Liam's future will be many times happier than he is now.
There is a reason why the Creator gave us imperfect memories. In life, no one has ever made a mistake in a relationship. The truth is important, but forgiveness and forgiveness for others and yourself are even more valuable. Memories are for us to live better, happy memories need to be strengthened continuously, and painful memories should be kept in the corner of memory with the passage of time. Rather than being a walking memory stick, I'd rather be a human with the ability to remember and forget.

  • Kenny: [sobbing] They filmed me.

    Hector: Filmed you...

    Kenny: Through my computer camera.

    Hector: What, like, filmed you?

Kenny: Yeah, like, you know, doing it.

    Hector: Like sex?

Kenny: No. Like, you... you know.

Hector: Jerking off. Jerking off to porn or something? Well, everyone does that. The fucking pope probably does that.
