Part 1. The story takes place in a virtual world where all energy is supplied by the energy released by ordinary people riding bicycles. In this world, it seems that all the walls in front of you are screens and "black mirrors". The male protagonist Bing is tired of his life, but he can't find the meaning of life, and he lives like a walking dead every day. The only way for people here to escape this environment is to enter the TV draft.
Part 2. On the screen in the bedroom, annoying advertisements are played repeatedly, unless you spend points (the currency of this world) to remove the advertisements, which can be used to buy everything in the virtual world. But Bing is still living day after day in a daze. Until one day, Bing met the new Abi. He fell in love with Abi at first sight. Once in the toilet, he happened to hear Abi humming casually. This song brought him a feeling he had never had before -- a real feeling. , he is determined to meet Abi.
Part 3. A chance to buy food by chance Bing and Abi got to know each other officially. Bing used all his savings to buy a ticket for the talent show and gave it to Abi to let her realize her dream of becoming a singer. But after drinking a psychedelic drink called "Submissive" provided by the backstage staff, Abi encountered the judges' extremely provocative agitation and the jeering of a large number of audiences, and finally complied with the judges' suggestion to become a porn actress.
Part 4.Bing saw Abi's performance in the trailer, he broke down, hit the wall everywhere in the house, and even smashed the glass wall, he wanted to kill himself with a glass shard, but at this moment he saw Abi The name of the drink he drank before the game was "Submissive", and it was determined that Abi was originally confused by this drink.
Part 5. He spent half a year frugally and saved enough money for tickets to the talent show. Knowing his mission, he used that piece of broken glass on the stage of the talent show to fight to the death, and said his heart-warming words, hoping to wake up everyone who was sleeping and find "truth" and "communication". But the result was tragic. A few words from the host destroyed his will. Although he could "express his truth" to his heart's content, he could never get rid of the rules of this virtual world.
The story of this film takes place in a space that does not exist in our reality. But it is this simple and abstract space that allows us to see the connotation of some things clearly.
The film mainly expresses the following thoughts: it satirizes and criticizes the talent show from a micro perspective, and tells the difficulty of the struggle between individuals and the system and the outcome of their own destiny from a macro perspective. Strongly attacked the consequences of virtualization on human life. There is a saying: When I am alone, I am lively; when I am lively, I am lonely.
Although at first glance it seems to be at odds with KK's "What Technology Wants" point of view, they are actually integrated with each other. My point of view is that technology will still improve and make human life better. Although many side effects will be encountered in the process, with the continuous advancement of technology, new technologies will overcome old side effects and produce new side effects, but looking back on history, we will find that in general, technology is progressing. When there is a problem, human beings will definitely get along with it to solve it.
Below are a few of my thoughts.
Idea 1: Views on some modern elements in the film.
Aside from the ideas that this film wants to express, there are many modern elements in this film that are worthy of reference by inventors, such as human-computer interaction mode, virtual reality and so on. Also I think the fictitious amount in the film is a good substitute for the currency of the future world.
Idea 2: Views on the final fate of Bing and Abi.
Bing did not change the world. When he stood at the crossroads of fate, he was coerced and lured by the judges. The judges have the power to kill you. After Bing finished that critical speech, the roaring audience fell silent. Bing's speech was true, exciting, and evoked the hearts of sleeping people, but the judges obviously won't let anything like that happen. , The evil judge who looked like Saddam actually regarded Bing's words of life as a performance, and successfully seduced Bing's determination with profit. In the end, Bing betrayed himself and became a show host on the judges TV station, using the broken glass to perform funny performances, and have a larger room and windows, no longer need to pedal labor. He became the will within the system.
Abi's fate was even more tragic, with the judges using her innocence as a selling point to force her to become a porn star. Her original dream was to be a singer, but reality destroyed her. Bing's speech showed this again. The talent show filtered out the innocence layer by layer until only the artificially packaged products remained, and the natural and original things would be eliminated. This directly satirizes the darkness of the talent show and truly shows the evil of the talent show. Talent shows only like to choose those with characteristics and attract the attention of the audience, not based on the ability level and talent of the participants. The purpose of the show is to increase the ratings, not to really let the players realize their dreams. Observing today's talent show, isn't that the case.
Everyone who has participated in and won the Talent Show will be asked one sentence: "What is the best thing in your new life"? The answers given by two people in the film are material, including Abi. And this is completely different from her original dream, she has been changed. It is also possible that the producers forced them to say it for the purpose of the show. But one of the sentences, "honesty is cruel," is worth thinking about.
Bing's last line reminds me of the final speech of Chaplin's "The Great Dictator." But the difference is that this movie is downright tragic, and the ending does not see a glimmer of hope, but sees that the system has recruited Bing. One is most prone to madness when one realizes that in order to practice one's ideals, one must mentally and materially violate one's beliefs, which appears to be an immutable cycle of reincarnation.
Idea 3: Views of other people in the film.
Dustin, the laughing man on Bing's left, is a completely brainwashed guy who has completely lost his ability to think independently. His score is the highest in that room, which shows that he is very hardworking, and he is very pathetic. I can only sympathize with him.
I don't know what the girl who likes Bing is called. She is always jealous of Abi, but she is a kind person. She has never coaxed and has her own true feelings. At the same time, she is also a person who understands how the system is going, but she doesn't think about breaking or changing anything in the past.
The big yellow-haired boy was so keen on dressing up his avatar that he never had much money. He'll be moved by Bing's speech, and he's part of the rabble. Ironically, he bought a virtual version of Bing's glass strips to dress himself up.
The audience is still a rabble, easy to be led, and without IQ, all they can do is make fun.
Idea 4: What is the meaning of life? Change yourself or change the world?
This is what I thought of by extension. Different people have different answers to these two questions. Let us answer these two questions.
Below are some of my questions.
I don't fully understand the meaning of the sweeper in the film. It's just until the lazy ones are going to put on their yellow uniforms and be inferior. And they are all fatter, but whether or not they wear yellow uniforms is not directly linked to their monetary value.
I didn't understand the meaning of high and low floors. What is Airdale where Abi said she wanted to go to where her sister is? Do different floors have code names?
Finally, there are still a few bugs in the video.
It doesn't make sense for the male protagonist to get up at the beginning of the movie with a higher currency value than when he brushes his teeth, unless bathing is lucrative (prove bathing: because the first time he brushed his teeth, he was shirtless and on the floor. have water).
Abi first appeared in the elevator on the 21st floor. From the elevator numbers, it can be seen that the elevator is still descending, but the floor they pedal is on a floor above the 22nd floor.
After Bing goes to be the host, there is a shot where the person taking his place is pedaling, but the screen is a welcome interface (an interface where no one is pedaling).
But just like the view mentioned in the previous article, for the viewer, it is of little significance to pay attention to these. We need to focus our attention and emotion on important and worthwhile places, realize our own value, and realize the meaning of our existence.
