Sound Dream

1. About a year ago, I began to instinctively dislike "August Rush" because at the Oscars awards ceremony, they performed a movie episode that arranged a church on the stage to sing carols. I thought it was an offense to an atheist like me. For example, although I dislike Christianity, I will not publicly preach how hypocritical their doctrine is, because I do not intend to offend believers who are emotionally dependent on religion. Someone recently said on the Internet that "Sound Dreaming Romance" is great. I didn't realize that it was "August Rush", so I went to watch it, and after watching it, I still didn't like it.

2. In fact, "August Rush" does not explicitly praise God, but its religious significance is very strong. Not only are there musical prodigies playing in the church, there are glorious shots from the top of the church, and there are many scenes like this: someone said where his music came from, and then his eyes moved upwards, and the lens angle of view also tilted upwards. .

3. Since the prodigy’s music comes from God, of course, it’s not too much to brag about. So the child prodigy can play the superb piano skills when he touches the guitar for the first time. However, I know that the hands stroking the strings in the movie must be substitute hands. I know that the owner of those hands must have spent countless hours on practicing the piano. So this movie attributed this skill to a child prodigy gifted by God, isn't it an insult to the real piano master?

4. I think the biggest problem with this movie is that its producers believe that by stacking some beautiful things, such as love, music, acquaintance, friendship, etc., it can be touching and tearing. See how the prodigy's parents met? The two of them were bored at night, left the party, met on the rooftop, and when they met, they felt that each other was their significant other. After spending a night on the rooftop, I won't see you again the next day. Eleven years later, I was still reading each other. Isn't this shit compared to what Aunt Qiong Yao wrote? The producer shows such things to others and expects the audience to be moved by things that are obviously lies. In fact, it is very insincere and very speculative. If I am moved by this kind of thing, I will not forgive myself.

5. The music of the movie is really good and very nice, for a layman like me.

    The pace is too fast.

I always feel that the ending should be a bit more vulgar and everyone will be happy. For example, a big hug for the whole family:)

August Rush quotes

  • Louis Connelly: [talking on his cellphone while getting into a black Cadillac] I've been doing this for ten years, Bob, we said ten percent. No, we said ten percent. yeah, well it makes the world go round doesn't it, Bob? just get me the ten percent, will ya, man? thanks

[sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose]

Nick: [unoticed by Louis] Can I get you anything, sir?

Louis Connelly: Do you know any hitmen?

Nick: I know a bass player. Might be able to help you out. Likes to get into fights with lead singers.

Louis Connelly: [freezes] Nick? What're you doing here, man?

Nick: Still drivin', payin' off those weddin' bills from last year.

Louis Connelly: Oh, fair play to ya, oh, she's a nice girl.

Nick: So you playin' at all?

    Louis Connelly: Nope.

Nick: why the hell not? your fingers fall off?

Louis Connelly: Well you move on. Have you seen the lads lately?

Nick: Ah, we still mess around, but the Connelly Brothers never really bounced back minus one brother.

Louis Connelly: Have you seen Marshall lately?

    Nick: Have you?

[Louis doesn't reply so nick changes the subject]

Nick: It's my birthday on Saturday, the session's at my place. Come, bring you're girlfriend! It's great seeing you man, remind me of New York, the good old days, eh?

  • Jennifer: [sees Louis on the projector] Oh my god! Is that you?

    [Louis doesn't answer]

Jennifer: When were you going to tell me you were in a band?

Marshall: [Cutting in before Louis could answer] I'm sure there's a lot of things our Louis hasn't told you darling, like who'd did you write the song for?

Louis Connelly: [turns away from Marshall] I told you this was a bad idea.

Marshall: That's it, go on! Walk out on us again!

    [Louis turns back to him]

    Marshall: Eh, Lou?

Louis Connelly: [Walking towards Marshall] Say what you have to say Marshall!

    Marshall: No man, go on!

Louis Connelly: Come on! Say what you have to say! Come on say it!

    Marshall: Say what?

Louis Connelly: [Shoves him] Come on! Say it! Say it!

Marshall: [Backing away as Louis continues pushing him] That the best you got? Is that the best you got man?

Louis Connelly: Come on! Hit me then!

    Marshall: No man

    Louis Connelly: HIT ME!

    [Slams Marshall against the projector]

    Louis Connelly: I'M SUFFOCATIN' HERE!

[Marshall punches him in the face and Louis grunts but appears to be okay]

    Marshall: You alright man?

[Louis wipes blood from his mouth but nods and smiles greatfully]

Marshall: [Catches Jennifer staring at the two of them and chuckles] Welcome to the Connelly Clan!
