Pacific Rim: Have you ever considered how monsters feel?

When watching the monsters on the screen being ravaged by the mecha punches of the US emperor, they were beaten to the point where they didn't even know their parents. Swirling. Have you ever considered the feelings of the monsters? Can't you just show the trump card, hit a few shots, chop a few knives, cleanly, and ease their pain? Oh, because there are a lot of settings: the blood of monsters is highly corrosive, and after the cells and tissues are destroyed, they can volatilize toxic and harmful gases, pollute the air, and destroy the natural environment. As a result, you can only rely on simple physical attacks to injure the monster to death. It is impossible to refuse to accept it. It basically surpasses the reasons for any war launched by human beings in history. I really don’t know who has ruined the environment of the earth like this. However, in the end, these so-called rules and regulations have become smoke bombs. When the momentum is not right, and the hand-to-hand combat is humiliated, all kinds of weapons are still smashed one after another. Here, our domestic mecha Storm Crimson can undoubtedly be used as a model to look up to. It is the only one in the audience that does not use any modern hot weapons. It is also highly respected by monsters when it is killed in seconds. Of course, this shouldn't be the fault of copycat products.

I can see it clearly, I keep saying that it is a world-class apocalypse, how many cities have been trampled by monsters, and the fate of mankind has reached the end of life and death. But in fact, only the US imperialists can stand in the forest of invincibility and truly shoulder the heavy responsibility of saving the world. Other countries either pass by and watch the excitement; or they are purely joking; what's more, they have nothing to do with them at all, and it can only be understood that these countries have been disturbed by monsters and have withdrawn from the stage of history ahead of schedule. It seems that China is willing to return to the green leaves at this time and set off the sassy and majestic appearance of others.

I don't know how many viewers have considered the feelings of the monsters. In the whole film, it seems that there are only two scenes of monsters directly "mutilating" humans. One is the dream of Rinko Kikuchi when she was a child, but after all, it is a childhood memory, not to mention unreliable, and it is very likely that it was only subtly influenced by the "Ultraman Heroes of the Universe" that flooded TV channels at that time. Eighty-nine are nonsense, and the monster is more injustice than Dou E. The second is the little monster that was just born and waiting to be fed. With the last breath of life, he contributed a funny easter egg to satisfy the evil taste of human beings. How can he not be moved by such a dedicated spirit. Take the little monster, it's mother, who resolutely gave up attacking the paralyzed mecha and went straight to Soulmate. Perhaps most of the audience would think that it would destroy the entire shelter and kill a bloody path. But in fact, it is just a hole carefully dug, without hurting innocent people, just smelling the old technology house that Wen has admired for a long time. Isn't this a great communication that starts from the heart across species barriers, time and space barriers? The monsters are just living in the rivers and lakes, fighting for their lives for the greedy aliens. God knows how many relatives and loved ones are threatened. However, the old tech house can't understand the delicate thoughts of monsters, so he resolutely chooses to cross the river and demolish the bridge, deliberately trying to destroy it first and then speed it up, which is too sad.

Humans also classify monsters into so-called "generations". On the surface, it emphasizes the evolutionary trend of monsters, and the acceleration of crisis is dignified. But never thought that those second, third, fourth, and fifth generations... are all flesh and blood descendants of monsters. Just allow Goujian to try his hardest and not allow monsters to take revenge. Those fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters who were slaughtered by mechas are all sad and humiliating history of blood and tears. If you don't practice your body well, one generation will be stronger than the next, how can you be worthy of the ancestors. Human mechas are made with the hard-earned money of taxpayers, and the monsters are confronted with real flesh and blood. One side is copper smell, the other side is life, this is really a bastard.

Having said that, humans are not useless, at least they blew up the alien base in the parallel universe at the last minute. Although there is a possibility of a comeback, according to the trend of the North American box office, in recent years, enough monsters have buried their relatives and healed the pain (the second part is tentatively scheduled for 2016). They are just victims caught between aliens and humans. Their sacrifices are actually a long time ago. The Ultraman Fighting Monsters, which were known to people earlier, are also full of kind and inspirational model-level monsters. For example, Jack Altman has an adversary who can infect the habit of laziness. Anyone who encounters it will stop his work and shout "I'm quitting", including Jack Altman himself. Finally aroused the fighting spirit of a lazy boy and regained his life. In "Godzilla", the monster reaches the breeding period, and its motherhood breaks out, just to protect its cubs from harm, and the cause is also due to the unprovoked nuclear contamination of humans. This is not only Godzilla's involuntary self-control, but also the self-digging grave of human beings. In the small-budget independent film "Monster", the hero and heroine have always survived without any danger, but when American soldiers were fully armed to bring "safety barriers", their lives were lost. Whose fault is this, and who are the real monsters, they, or ourselves?

Humans, it's time to consider how monsters feel.

Pacific Rim quotes

  • Raleigh Becket: This is worth fighting for. We don't have to just obey him.

Mako Mori: It's not obedience, Mr. Becket; it's respect.

  • [first lines]

Raleigh Becket: [narrating] When I was a kid, whenever I'd feel small or lonely, I'd look up at the stars. Wondered if there was life up there. Turns out I was looking in the wrong direction. When alien life entered our world, it was from deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. A fissure between two tectonic plates. A portal between dimensions. The Breach. I was fifteen when the first Kaiju made land in San Francisco.

    [pause]

Raleigh Becket: By the time tanks, jets and missiles took it down, six days and 35 miles later, three cities were destroyed. Tens of thousands of lives were lost. We mourned our dead, memorialized the attack, and moved on. And then, only six months later, the second attack hit Manila.

Newscaster: [on TV] The acid factor of the Kaiju blood creates a toxic phenomenon known as Kaiju Blue

Raleigh Becket: Then the third one hit Cabo. And then the fourth. And then we learned this was not gonna stop. This was just the beginning. We needed a new weapon. The world came together, pooling it's resources and throwing aside old rivalries for the sake of the greater good. To fight monsters, we created monsters of our own. The Jaeger program was born.
