Pacific Rim Film Review: A Feast

of Mecha All thinking skills are reset to zero. So the landlord decided to give this movie 12 points out of 10.

During the whole movie, the landlord rolled back and forth on the seat with tears in his eyes. Every time he saw a new mecha, he had a strong urge to kneel to the screen.

When the landlord saw the tedious process of merging like a cannon in the world, the steel gate slowly opened, and the dangerous vagabond made his debut while wading in the water with flashing lights. When he lowered his head and flew far away, when the brain-dead commander ordered the raider Eureka to hold the line of defense without support, but the raider Eureka's personal heroism exploded, shouting to hold on to my fucking support, When he resolutely disobeyed the order and rushed to the monster, when the attacker Eureka was surrounded by monsters and the dangerous wanderer descended from the sky majestic, the landlord shed tears in desperation.

To repeat, the host gave this movie a 12 out of 10.

The first 30 minutes of this movie were amazing. The 1 hour in between is a bit boring. The next 30 minutes was great again. In order to keep some fun for the children's shoes who haven't seen the movie, I won't talk about the plot. Just a little introduction to the mecha.

The setting of the mecha adopts the setting of EVA as a whole. Human pilots control giant mechas to fight monsters. The method of operation is that the two pilots are mentally synchronized, and the double insertion pegs are kind of like the EVA 13 machine. When dangerous, the rescue capsule can be ejected to eject the driver. Depending on the construction time and technological content, the mechs range from the first to the fifth generation. The following will introduce them to you one by one.

1. Chinese mecha Crimson Typhoon
Chinese mecha CrimsonTyphoon, literally translated as the crimson typhoon, translated as the crimson storm in the film. The fourth generation mecha made in China. The only mecha that rides three people. The drivers are the three Tang brothers. Painted in red. It is also the only mech with 3 arms. The attack method is to use the flywheel in the front of the arm to cut the monster. In terms of comprehensive combat power, the Chinese mecha Crimson Storm is scum. The first and only appearance is in the defense of Hong Kong with Russia's Cherno Alpha against two fourth-generation monsters. The 3 brothers died in battle because they were killed by monsters. Due to the rapid decline, Cherno Alpha was attacked from behind and killed in a 1-to-1 advantage.

2, Russian mech Cherno Alpha

Russian mech Cherno Alpha, translated as Cherno Alpha. My Favorite Mecha! The drivers are two old men, a man and a woman. Cherno Alpha has a typical Russian style. Silly, black and thick, square and upright. Attack power and defense power are super high, but the speed is slow. The weapon is a heavy punch, and he is good at holding monsters in his arms and hitting the head with a heavy punch. Uh, it's cool to think about it. As the only first-generation mecha that is still in service, Cherno Alpha has a glorious record of battle, and it is not inferior to the fourth-generation monsters. In the Hong Kong Guard Battle, he teamed up with Crimson Storm to fight against monsters 2v2. Because Crimson Storm collapsed too fast, Cherno Alpha, who had the upper hand and was beating the monsters, was attacked from behind by another monster, and he succeeded in grappling. The sharp-armored monster hollowed out Cherno Alpha's chest and abdomen, killed two pilots, and finally twisted the mecha's head off and left it far away. As the old saying goes, don't be afraid of god-like opponents, but be afraid of pig-like teammates.

3, Australian Mecha Striker Eureka

Australian mecha Striker Eureka, literally translated as striker Eureka. The film translates as Storm Raiders. The driver is a father and son. The father's right arm was later broken, and he was replaced by a black commander paired with his son. The only fifth-generation mecha. Its special move is 6 cannons hidden in its chest. Firepower, speed, and the most technologically advanced mech. It is a pity that it has not yet served since it was created, and it was frozen because of the end of the Skua Project and the development of the Wall of Life Project. In the later stage of the Wall of Life Project, the fourth-generation monster pierced through the Wall of Life in Sydney, declaring the bankruptcy of the Wall of Life Project. It was the raider Eureka who stepped forward to take down the monster and save Sydney. After listening to the commander's call, he turned into an underground resistance organization and became active again in Hong Kong. However, because he was designated by the commander as the main executor of blowing up the wormhole with a nuclear bomb in the later stage of the film, he was not allowed to attack during the guard duty in the Hong Kong Guard War, and watched Crimson Storm and Cherno Alpha were killed. After he couldn't bear it any longer, he shot, and was stunned by the monster's mental shock. Fortunately, he was rescued by a dangerous homeless person who arrived in time.
In the final battle, armies of nuclear bombs and dangerous wanderers team up to storm the monster's base camp, the wormhole at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. However, he encountered the strongest combination of monsters in this film: 2 fourth-generation monsters and 1 fifth-generation monster. Resisting the frantic attack of the five-generation monster, buying time for the dangerous wanderer, and his limbs are all broken. The dangerous vagabond also had his arm and leg broken when he killed a fourth-generation target, and the two brothers were basically in a situation of being slaughtered. In desperation, he detonated the nuclear bomb, sacrificing himself and injuring two monsters. Created the conditions for the final victory of the Dangerous Rangers.

4, American Mecha Gipsy Danger

American mech Gipsy Danger. Literally translated as Dangerous Gypsy. The film translates as Dangerous Homeless. Fourth generation mecha. All abilities are average. The only nuclear powered mech. Has a glorious war. Killed 4 three-generation monsters. The pilots were a pair of brothers at the beginning, and they played the fourth-generation monsters that debuted at the beginning of the film. Due to being accidentally attacked by the fourth-generation monster, his brother was killed. The younger brother left the army in a psychological shadow. After the Skua project was cancelled, the Wall of Life project was launched. The mech troops were transferred to the underground resistance group. The younger brother rejoined the team and teamed up with a beautiful and noble Japanese girl.
In the defense of Hong Kong, he did not play at the beginning, and played in the case of Crimson Storm, Cherno Alpha successively killed, and the attacker Eureka lost his ability to fight. Killed two fourth-generation monsters alone and defended Hong Kong.
In the final battle, team up with Eureka, the attacker with a nuclear bomb, to attack the monster's base camp, the wormhole at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. However, he encountered the strongest combination of monsters in this film: 2 fourth-generation monsters and 1 fifth-generation monster. While the raider Eureka withstood the crazy attack of the fifth-generation monster, he killed a fourth-generation monster, but was interrupted by another fourth-generation monster. After the raider Eureka resolutely blew himself up, sacrificing himself and inflicting heavy damage on the remaining 1 fourth-generation monster and 1 fifth-generation monster. The Dangerous Wanderer lived up to expectations and killed the two seriously injured monsters one by one, rushed into the wormhole and thawed his own nuclear reactor manually, blowing up the wormhole.

Pacific Rim quotes

  • Raleigh Becket: This is worth fighting for. We don't have to just obey him.

Mako Mori: It's not obedience, Mr. Becket; it's respect.

  • [first lines]

Raleigh Becket: [narrating] When I was a kid, whenever I'd feel small or lonely, I'd look up at the stars. Wondered if there was life up there. Turns out I was looking in the wrong direction. When alien life entered our world, it was from deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. A fissure between two tectonic plates. A portal between dimensions. The Breach. I was fifteen when the first Kaiju made land in San Francisco.

    [pause]

Raleigh Becket: By the time tanks, jets and missiles took it down, six days and 35 miles later, three cities were destroyed. Tens of thousands of lives were lost. We mourned our dead, memorialized the attack, and moved on. And then, only six months later, the second attack hit Manila.

Newscaster: [on TV] The acid factor of the Kaiju blood creates a toxic phenomenon known as Kaiju Blue

Raleigh Becket: Then the third one hit Cabo. And then the fourth. And then we learned this was not gonna stop. This was just the beginning. We needed a new weapon. The world came together, pooling it's resources and throwing aside old rivalries for the sake of the greater good. To fight monsters, we created monsters of our own. The Jaeger program was born.
