After watching all 6 seasons of "House of Cards", I love this show as much as "Atlantic Empire". The two shows have inspired me a lot, and even changed some of my living habits. The reason why I wrote these words is to record the part that touched me the most, firstly for myself, and secondly, if it can resonate with everyone, it is also a good thing.
The series that started with "House of Cards", I'm initially going to talk about three issues, the first issue I want to talk about Race against Fear first
1. Insipid little happiness VS desperately making progress
Anyone who can read "House of Cards" and read this line of text, I believe that you are very likely to be someone who is working hard for life, or someone who is about to step out of school and work hard. Everyone wants to be an elite, to climb to the top of the food chain, to be able to sit on the right to talk and laugh, to have great scholars, and to have money in hand, but most of us only know that it is difficult. Accidental luck factor, we can only guess.
You may think, like Tao Yuanming, don't bow down for five buckets of rice, live your own life, and sing Jay Chou's "Rice of Rice", "Being famous is not the purpose, and making yourself happy is the meaning". Plain happiness is not shameful, "Shangshan is famous and fortune, and there are people walking at night", then let those who love to walk go! There is nothing wrong with this. After all, many things are just different choices. There is no distinction between right and wrong . For example, Wang Wei and Tao Yuanming are both landscape and pastoral poets, so he chose a different path. Knowing the misfortune and the good fortune, he had the opportunity to become a high-ranking officer later, but he retreated bravely and chose to retreat to the countryside (of course, unlike Tao Yuanming, the poor dick, the local tyrant Wang Wei's retreat conditions were much better, and he purchased more than a dozen villas, hired A large number of servants maintain and make a living). Our comrade Francis Underwood (referred to as Kinoshita, FU) is more spelling than Wang Wei, and there is no loss in his dictionary! He didn't stop fighting until he died!
So the question is, plain little happiness VS desperately making progress, which one is better? My answer is: Do something bigger than you to be happy! Among the many friends who consulted me, I found the most confused type of people. Their common characteristic is that they have little work pressure, are very idle, and don’t know what to do. They feel that they can’t win things that are difficult, and things that are less difficult are not interesting—the confusion comes from the lack of a benign closed loop of “effort-success-reward”. Do something bigger than you is to do something that is not so easy to do by yourself, but can be achieved through hard work and hard work! In fact, it is to make us feel satisfied and happy from this benign closed loop, and also make progress and improvement! People at the level of Comrade Kinoshita are seeking from the party whip to the vice president, to being temporarily appointed to replace the president, to being re-elected by voting. Clare has sought a UN ambassador, vice president, and president from a private company owner; as small as you and me Striver, striving for a breakthrough in work and learning to cook one more dish in life will make us happy and improve!
2. Self-esteem self-discipline vs fearful self-discipline
After all, you are doing something beyond yourself, so you need wisdom, knowledge, courage, determination, self-discipline, and excellence! In the 6 seasons of "House of Cards", we can see politicians showing their self-discipline and excellence everywhere, but only the Kinoshita couple laughed. In the end, what are the others worse than this couple?
The worst thing is fear, FEAR!
Today, many of us force ourselves to be self-disciplined and excellent in order to win the respect of others, to be looked at by others, and to be envied by passers-by. After all, talking about the performance of luxury cars with others at a friend’s party is more important than discussing how to save money by changing to the subway. Youfan, talking about how you feel about tasting various types of whisky is obviously better than bragging about blowing a few beers at the barbecue stall... This kind of self-discipline grows from self-esteem, and makes us improve and become better than 80%. Struggling people! But they are no better than Kinoshita, because their self-discipline and excellence are rooted in fear!
Two kinds of self-discipline push us to grow and make us better, but they are driven by completely different sources. Using a race as an analogy, the power source of self-esteem is like catching up after being surpassed. There is a kind of passive taste in it. The goal is very clear. Going beyond the first place is the biggest visible goal, and you can rest when you finish it; the power source of fear is like taking the lead. Everyone, you can never say that you have won, you can't stop, your opponent is not someone else, but time! You are afraid that you will accomplish nothing, that you will waste your time, that you are not healthy enough to support your future struggles, that you will not be able to leave a bright page after death... Self-esteem and self-discipline, it is really you who are restraining yourself and fighting inertia. Once you achieve success , some people will choose to rest, and even feel that they are very powerful, and they will be a little floating...; fear-based self-discipline is more like a natural choice. In "House of Cards", the Kinoshita couple running together is a kind of enjoyment of life The way they love drinking and smoking, but there is no alcohol dependence, quit smoking when they say they quit, and the fear of losing makes the Kinoshita couple achieve more and desire to surpass themselves. Quoting a line in the play:
After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. - "House of Cards"
Steve Jobs said that Stay hungry, Stay foolish, hungry for knowledge, and humble, how much willpower is needed. If I want to say, it is still Race against Fear, race against your inner fear, and don’t be swallowed by him!
3. "Noble" VS Elite
Arming yourself with luxury goods and declaring your wealth and status is really a cheap and efficient way (cheap? What is money, time is more precious! Well, ahem, this is awesome), this method can make you the most Quickly become a "noble" family. But transforming oneself from the inside out is not as simple and quick as buying a hand, that's why we see so many "nobility" people who "don't wear dragon robes like princes". Cultivation and vision are slightly inferior.
How are elites formed? My point of view is this: everyone who is born into this complex human society must first learn the rules and learn to follow the rules, so that they can integrate into the society and survive better. A mature person should then strive to form a unique personality and discover his true self, followed by pursuing what he loves and remaking who he was in the past. "Want to live clearly, want to live the way you want", this is the core of what I think is the elite! In "House of Cards", elites like the Kinoshita couple, driven by this core, constantly transform themselves, iterate themselves, hunt for victory, and stay young forever!
To improve is to change, to perfect is to change often. Change is progress, and constant change makes perfect! - "House of Cards"
Having said so many great truths, let’s finally come to some practical and practical dry goods:
1. The ancients said: behind a man wearing cufflinks, there is a beautiful and loving wife. This sentence is given to the strugglers like me, fighting for the future of wearing cuffs today
2. The same 275ML whisky glass from House of Cards, the bottom line of the glass represents the 35ML alcohol line. No more than this amount of whisky per day
The first part will talk about struggle first, and then in the second part, I will share with you the relationship between the Kinoshita couple who have different opinions, and talk to you about love, marriage, and confidant issues that everyone will involve. See you next time!
