Stunt Wallflower

First of all, I want to clarify for this movie that the movie is by no means the American version of "Those Years". The poster of the "Those Years" version of the movie is really wrong to see... The Chinese name of the movie is indeed translated in a mess. Still doing that vulgar phonetic-like word gag, is "Juvenile Self-Reading Diary" from that kind of reading? Why not just use "self-blame", and instead pretend to be arrogant and say it's young and frivolous spiritual blasphemy...

"The Perks of being a wallflower", "Perks" can be interpreted as a stunt, the word "wallflower" Originally from an image, it refers to those people who don't know how to communicate and lean against the wall alone at the dance, and later refers to people who don't know how to socialize. He/they may not be someone who has no opinion and accomplishes nothing, he/they just cannot express themselves well in public. The movie hero Charlie (Logan Lerman) is a typical wallflower. Before meeting Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller), his campus life was all alone, leaning against the wall at prom Yes, always alone. There is a scene in the movie where Charlie is standing against the wall at the freshman dance. The half-brother Sam and Partick have very different personalities from Charlie. Whether it is Sam, who is often played with by men, or Partick, who can't come out of the closet, they are both equally daring to love and hate. But even such people have moments when they become wallflowers. There's a scene in the play where Sam is standing where Charlie used to be, alone. In the period of youth, almost everyone once loved himself but was afraid of being alone, wanted to be a wallflower and wanted to be a social butterfly. Perhaps it is this process of recognizing loneliness that allows us to better understand what we want.

Part of the movie that touched me is that Patrick dared to pursue his own love, dare to take on his own love, and then face his failed love well. (And of course because Ezra Miller played it so well) We may often ask why the person I love doesn't love me, why does the person I love find someone like this to love, why is the distance between us so close so far. There is a saying in the movie: We accept the love we think we deserve. Perhaps, it is because we have too many times in the process of searching, forgetting our own goodness, and then finding someone we don’t love very much to love and recognizing our own life. The reason why Patrick's obsession with love is touched is that even though he has suffered many setbacks in the same-sex world love, he still believes in his own good. Love is just simple love without consideration.

In the turning points of life, we must learn to love ourselves well, and then believe that we are worthy of being loved well.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower quotes

  • Patrick: My turn! Let's see. Let's think... Charlie.

    Charlie: Truth.

Patrick: How's your first relationship going?

Charlie: It's so bad, that I keep fantasizing that one of us is dying of cancer, so that I don't have to break up with her.

  • Mother: She's on the phone now? Charlie, you've got to break up with her.

    Charlie: I can do that?
