Aunt Charlie has feelings, maybe because Auntie always plays with him and has so-called secrets between them and is telling Charlie to go buy him presents and get into a car accident. With Charlie's age at the time, he might not have been able to tell whether this so-called secret was cute or scary. And when he grows up and knows the ins and outs of the so-called secret, his previous affection for his aunt, his guilt for her car accident, and his disgust for what she did are intertwined. None of that emotion can take absolute advantage, causing him to feel at a loss mentally. In addition, the best friend has the same psychological problem, and swallows the bullet. This made him more immersed in his own world.
However, God helps those who help themselves, and they still have to rely on themselves to come out. His first step was to approach Patrick and befriend the Sams. The lack of family makes children independent, so Patrick and Sam have their own problems, but they are unrestrained. They taught Charlie, or together they learned the meaning of youth. Youth is growing up through failures and mistakes, learning to encourage each other through tears and setbacks.
Movies don't ask questions, they don't address them. Just let you see a record of youth. It doesn't understand your content, but there will always be some matching emotion.
The first half of the film is fresh and natural, and the second half is slightly dull.

Trivia:
1. This film is based on Stephen Chbosky's novel of the same name, and Stephen Chbosky wrote the script and directed the tube himself. It is rare in the film industry that the author of the book directs the film himself.
2. Emma Watson said she took the role because director Stephen Chbosky told her, "Not only will it be a big part of your acting voice, but it's going to be a big summer of your life, and you'll be here. Met a lot of good friends." And Emma said later that everything he said came true.
3. Stephen Chbosky said he chose Emma Watson because he saw the scene in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" where Harry was comforting her when Ron fell on Hermione's heart. He said "She touched my heart, and seeing her tears, I felt like she had that Sam quality in her."
4. In the book, the tunnel song is "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac, while in the film he Changed to David Bowie's "Heroes," which Stephen Chbosky found more appropriate after seeing footage of Emma Watson standing behind the truck.

6. Director Stephen Chbosky said, "Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Mae Whitman, these kids have never been to prom, or graduation ceremonies or anything, because they've been working. Seeing these kids experience something in the movie The high school experience is a very special feeling."
7. In the book, Patrick and Mary Elizabeth are both smokers, but the movie removed these in order to achieve a PG-13 rating.
8. The novel was first published in 1999. Although the date is not specified, based on some clues in the book (no small cell phones and the Internet, all listening to vinyl records and tapes), it can be inferred that the description is roughly the early 1990s.
9.John Hughes originally purchased the film rights, intending to adapt and shoot the film. His original intention was to make a black comedy starring Shia LaBeouf as Charlie, Kirsten Dunst as Sam and Patrick Fugit as Patrick. But the sudden death of John Hughes put the plan on hold.
