Skinny Eddie and his mother

Micro spoilers.

The film was terrifying from the very beginning. The little boy George unfortunately encountered the big Boos and disappeared, so strange things happened frequently, the atmosphere gradually became tense, and the special effects and sound effects were also very appropriate, which stimulated my senses conscientiously. And it was not until I watched the whole film that I realized that this film is indeed terrifying, but the element of horror is not ghosts, but what children experience in reality.

The film creates a small group of seven children in a group portrait. It is rare that every little actor has a very wonderful performance, and even more rare, through the description of the children's words and deeds and their respective parents and families, the role of each child is portrayed in a very three-dimensional manner. There are many me in the comment area. I really appreciate the character analysis, so I won't go into details here, just talk about the one that I paid special attention to - the skinny Eddie.

At first, my impression of this kid was flat. But the characters in the play seem to be aware of this, so Eddie has been brushing his presence, constantly posing as a little expert, pointing and rambling on various details, for fear that others will not pay attention to him. And her mother is also a very interesting character, first look at the appearance, Eddie is thin and short, and his mother said that she was wronged by her big shoulders and round waist, she was like a hill, so she visually caught my attention as soon as she appeared. In addition to the contrast in stature, this mother's personality is also very cold compared to her son. The little fat man was bullied by his classmates and desperately called for help when he cut his belly, but Eddie's mother passed by in a car and didn't pay any attention. Even if her son's friends came to play at home, she didn't have a trace of enthusiasm, she was indifferent and weird. The only thing that can attract her attention is her son, and he is very concerned, and even shows a strong desire to control. However, given that the boy is "frail and allergic", it is reasonable for his mother to tell him to stay away from plants. But when Eddie crawled out of the yard after his first encounter with the Joker, he didn't say anything about his allergies. Ordinarily this is nothing to explain, but in the habit of "if a pistol appears in the story, it has to be fired", I am still a little strange.

Until Eddie fractured and went to the pharmacy to get medicine, the cashier girl's words revealed a big secret. Eddie's medicine was actually a placebo!

I am not a medical professional. As for the placebo (pIacebo), my superficial understanding is that it is a "drug" that does not have any therapeutic effect in itself. It achieves the comforting effect of relieving symptoms and tension through the psychological expectation generated after taking it.

In order to control her son, this mother preached everywhere that her son was "how fragile" and took medicine for a long time. In fact, it was a scam, and even her own son was kept in the dark. If you just think that this is a mother's love distorted by the desire for control, you are wrong. It’s a mental illness—a feint of agency.

The name of this disease is very confusing at first glance. In order to facilitate understanding, I will explain it in two steps. First of all, there is a kind of feign illness - a mental illness that pretends to be sick for medical treatment or to attract the attention of others, the same period, etc. The agency feint is also related to pretending to be sick, but the protagonist is not the patient himself, but someone else. So what does the patient do, take care of the "sick" person.

Come see Du Niang: Proxy feint is a rare medical disorder in which the patient is usually the mother and the victim is usually her child. Sick mothers will claim that their children are ill or even deliberately make them sick, and then take their children to seek medical treatment in order to gain the attention and sympathy of others to prove the value of their existence.

The first time I heard about this disease was in Takashi Miike's "Ghost Call 1", and I was very shocked. And when I saw this again, I felt even more horrified. Thinking back to Eddie's constant presence, it really brings a lot of pain to my heart.

Never read the original. A movie full of the 80s atmosphere, vaguely reminds me of ET aliens. The lives of several children in a small town are mixed, social problems, family problems, growth... and the terrifying clown demon is always ready to take the lives of the children when they are fragile. imax shock effect full score. I didn't expect this film to be quite bloody and violent. It's really hard for these little actors

    1. This is what a horror movie should look like. It has both inner fear and concreteness, which is desperate; 2. Under the package of horror, there are human beings indifferent, paternal killing, pedophilia, and school bully. Ling, distorted family relationships, racial issues and other content, and do not overwhelm the host; 3. Growth itself is also a scary thing.
