In this impetuous and noisy media era, the eye-catching index is indeed a real problem that any media has to face. But once the eye-catching index becomes the only pursuit of the media. It's no wonder that we're full of celebrity gossip, anecdotes, sex, violence, and any other topical event that can generate controversy and attention.
News becomes information consumption.
