Why is love?

After reading many reviews of this film, most of them think they are celebrating love. Perhaps there are too many elements of love in Chinese pop culture. Our popular songs, our radio programs, our movies and television, are everywhere in order to please young audiences, struggling to discuss love.

In fact, I think if you want to understand this film from the perspective of love, it might be really superficial. Because such a love story is clichéd and sentimental, and has no connotations. A man who is unrequited love can't even talk about mutual joy in fundamental love. The reason why he is so obsessed with Alicia is not so much how deep his love is, but how deep his loneliness and helplessness are. Alicia became a symbol and sustenance for him, the only sustenance window for his desire to love that kind of volcanic eruption. Only lonely and depressed people have such paranoia. The tragedy is that for Benino, only a vegetable can accept a person like him. As for friendship, it is far-fetched. From what Marco did for Benino, from what angle can he find a great friendship that is beyond the ordinary and can be said to be evocative? If the movie is downgraded to the praise of love and friendship, let alone mediocrity, there will be no new ideas. Perhaps artists from a few generations ago have already sung praises, why do you want to pick up people's teeth?

I think this is a tragic movie about loneliness. The author is everywhere portraying Ben's longing but boring life. Although he is not in jail, life is like a cage and can only give him silence. He can only say a lot of things to himself. There are almost no people who want to hug him. When he talked to Marco in prison, he said, I like the Cuban woman you portrayed, waiting at the window all the time, but I don’t know what to wait. This is his true portrayal (and I can see what they have in common). In the life of a sissy man who has a bad appearance, average job, introverted personality and few friends, the young and beautiful Alicia can become a part of Ben's life only when she loses consciousness. He can only live in all hypotheses. Perhaps modern society has really sentenced these mediocre men to the death penalty that is spiritually satisfied. Not withered like ben, like you and me, walking corpses like ordinary people, passing through without feeling. It is the human care of the movie that I shed tears for the ordinary people's lives that are too ordinary. The director is a master of tragedy. After Benino decided to give up everything and left a letter to Marco saying that he was going to see Alicia, Alicia was resurrected. Love fans may cry and say that Benino's love awakened her. But is it not the director’s tragic design: Benino still cannot get a chance after death, even if it is an imaginary opportunity? Seeing his tombstone, no one can hold back tears.

Regarding Marco, who kept crying, he was actually talking about loneliness. Although he has a better appearance and job than Ben, he is not without women in his life, but the person he loves cannot share happiness with him; in his new lover’s bones he is still reminiscing about his former boyfriend, leaving him in a coma. go. Only the poor + lunatic Ben had the urge to hug him. But he can only live in Ben's house, watch the scenery he sees, and pay attention to the girls he pays attention to. Even if the girl had a dialogue with him in the end, but the twists and turns, he had to be silent.

There are many subtitles in the film, such as Marco and Lydia, Ben and Alicia, including the last Marco and Alicia. We will find that all the four protagonists appear in two and two, and they are each unable to speak out (the only exception is Marco and Ben, but Ben is dead). Although every two people communicated in language, they did not speak the real voice. Four people, two by two, staged a movie full of language and silence. I think loneliness and depression, the invisible barriers of modern society, are the theme of the movie and the source of tears.

Of course, the director's superb skills use unrequited love to set off all this. It can be said that something so beautiful in love is always a window to a lonely person. Even if there is no love, a lonely person always yearns for love and sings love. Only in this way will there be the tragedy power of loneliness and the driving force of life.

Fanatical infatuation needs to be read in dead sentences, and the absence of Benino may be the best ending. PS: Spanish women are really suffocating! The rich connotation and philosophical layers of the film are memorable and worthy of a master-level work!

Four and a half stars: Persistent guardianship is a kind of confidence in life and love. If a person can't talk, will you talk to her, talk to her like she can talk, how long can you talk, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months , a few years, or a lifetime?
