Many people may be intimidated by the title, thinking that this is a horror movie or a biological invasion, but in fact, this is a realist movie with a socially critical nature.
As we all know, South Korea is a country with a huge gap between the rich and the poor. The social class is solidified, and the life of the people at the bottom and the upper class can be described as ice and fire.
And this film is based on the life of a family of four living in the basement, and exaggerated the performance and interpretation of such a gap. The plot can be summed up in one sentence: how does the family mix into the upper-class family and turn the world upside down.
At first, Song Kanghao's family of four lived a poor and simple but still warm life. One day, his son received a request from a classmate who was about to study abroad and became a tutor in a wealthy family. After his son entered the wealthy family, He quickly captured the heart of Miss Qianjin, and then did a little trick to get his sister to work here too. Then the family used various strategies to replace the drivers and servants of the rich family, and successfully counterattacked. Parasitic upper class people.
In the first half of the movie, we seem to be watching a deception guide, "How to Use the Circle of Acquaintances to Swindle". This part of the content is comparable to the comedy movie "Love Saint" by Xing Ye. The rich couple in the film is obviously Too Facebook-like, especially easy to deceive, it is exactly the sentence "people are stupid and have more money", and the protagonist's family of four is a quiet and self-righteous little people one second, and the next second becomes a scheming gang that is good at calculating. It came too suddenly! What is unexpected is that even the movie is complaining about it!
But as everyone knows, it is this opportunistic approach that makes the fate of the family finally go to the abyss. You must know that when you tell a lie, you will have no way back, and you will use a series of lies to create an even bigger lie.
Just when the family was camping and spending time in the mansion, the servant who was fired in front came to the door again. It turned out that the servant also raised a husband in the basement built by the previous owner of the mansion. Well this time, the parasite met the parasite, and originally thought that they would be sympathetic to each other, but it turned into a battle of trapped beasts, and finally led to the bloodshed at the end of the film.
This movie tells us a truth: if you want to get rich, you must enshrine the transfer stone. The so-called "stone turns around."
Of course, the above is nonsense!
This film tries to use an exaggerated way to interpret the insurmountable solidification of class, which is reflected in the film: even if you work for the upper class, they will never treat you as their own? The label of a slum and the smell of slums on you are always unacceptable to the so-called upper class.
Many bridges in the movie are worth pondering, such as the parallel montage of two basements, two waves of ants at the bottom, and the same parasitic fate, which is sad and regrettable.
It is a pity that the film did not dig deep into the reasons behind this social reality. The too dramatic plot and coincidence also greatly reduced the authenticity of the story. Labeling the rich and the poor and masking them would instead give people a kind of feeling. : The delusions of "the upper classes are all fools" and "the lower classes are all ignorant parasites". Similar movies, but I would recommend Li Changdong's "Burning".
