before the legend begins

This big prequel is well done. However, there is no shortage of regrets.

First, let's talk about the plot and the characters.

As early as two years ago, when I watched the Wolverine prequel, I had already ignored the bloody plot at the time. Muscles, man, that's enough~ But FIRST CLASS brings new surprises: in addition to the consistent level of action scenes, the depth of the plot is also very commendable. Before Professor X established the school, the relationship between the key characters in the X-MEN series 1~3 was very clearly sorted out in this one. In addition, the character and emotion of each character and the shaping of each other's characters are also relatively distinct, and the emotional relationship between the key characters also makes a good interpretation of the behavior of the characters in the previous works.

(The following may contain spoilers~~~) For example, the relationship between Professor X and Magneto is both enemy and friend. Professor X and Magneto can be called confidants. It can even be said that Professor X guided and developed Magneto's abilities. But the experience of the two people is doomed that the two people can only part ways in the end. But even so, the two are still incomparable confidants. That's why, over and over again, Magneto was only imprisoned and deactivated, not killed.

The shape-shifting woman is actually the righteous sister of Professor X... This is really unexpected~ Her emotional route is undoubtedly very successful. Love at first sight with the Beast is very moving at the beginning. Later, when the Beast brought the potion to try to abolish the abilities of the two people, the Beast finally showed his side of Ye Gonglong: he could never accept himself with huge feet, and at the same time he could not accept the true face of the shape-shifting woman. This has led to the shattering of the foundation of their love. And then in the conversation with Magneto, Magneto's sincerity also took away her heart forever. When Magneto said "I like you as you are", it wasn't her imitation of others, nor her human form, but her golden eyes, flaming hair, and starry dark blue skin. This kind of complete acceptance makes the shape-shifting girl who has hated her true self since childhood feel the happiness of being accepted and affirmed for the first time. And this, even Professor X, who is capable of Desensitization, can't do it.

When the shape-shifting woman left, she said to the beast, "You have to remember your true face, it is the most beautiful." It also made an excellent preparation for the stable and confident image of the beast in the third part. At the end of the film, the plot of her hurriedly leaving Professor X was a failure. And throughout the whole film, except for the beginning, there is no longer a description of the deep feelings of Professor X and the deformed female siblings. This is one of the shortcomings of the film.

In addition, a bigger highlight of the film is that it is closely integrated with history. This kind of bridge is reminiscent of [Call of Duty - Black Ops]. It's just that although this kind of setting is emotional, it can't help but give people a kind of funny feeling. However, the end result is still good.

Then, character building.
The character building of the protagonists is quite successful. The actor's performance is also very good.
The most brilliant is the portrayal of Magneto. Unlike Professor X, Magneto's philosophy is tougher and more extreme. The repeated betrayals of ordinary human beings have completely chilled him. Even though he was originally saved by Professor X's influence, it's a pity that the two eventually took different paths.
The actor of Professor X, I forgot his name. I like his acting very much, but his image is somewhat different from the holy image of Professor X in the main story. And his emotional fluctuations and history are too weak compared to Magneto. The film's portrayal of his abilities was very successful. Even better than the gorgeous visual effects.
The shaping of the square supporting role is relatively successful. Experience, character, ability, are relatively clear. The emotional portrayal of beasts and shapeshifters is also a heavy line in the film. In contrast, the villains have been very unsuccessful in their portrayal except for the diamond girl. The dual ability of the diamond girl can be said to be very brilliant. And the shaping of demons and whirlwinds seems to be only superficial. The role of the whirlwind is more soy sauce than soy sauce. (It's not as if the phrase GO TO FXXK UR SELF does not exist in Wolverine's cameo!!!) At least, the image design and ability of the devil are still very successful.
But there is a very, very serious problem with character ability building: the same. Although it is a different character than usual, we can find all the abilities of the characters who have appeared in the past from them. The only bright spot seems to be Sonic Man's ability to fly. This kind of lack of creativity will make the old audience of the series cry out = =#

Next is the screen. To be honest, I personally think that the best performance of the series is still the second part. (Of course, the prequel of Wolverine is also good.) Compared with the previous series, the picture of this one is really lacking in creativity. Everyone's ability can be roughly guessed. There are also no grand scenes on the screen. This could be the film's fatal flaw.

Summarize. Movies appeal to old and new audiences alike. Old audiences can have a deeper understanding of the relationships and history of characters in the X-MEN world here, and new audiences can also have a solid understanding of the beginning of the story, and at the same time, they can see more beautiful pictures. In general, it is still worth spending dozens of dollars to walk into the cinema.
