ford and his wife seem very kind. When he had to separate the black mother and her child, he couldn't bear it, read the bible to the slaves, did not abuse the slaves, and even gave solomon a violin. But his kindness is no more than that. When Solomon pinned his hope of rescue on him, the black mother who was bought with him woke him up. You really thought FORD didn't know your origin, you really Thought he believed you were just a nigger, but he did nothing. In the face of injustice, he chose not to face it. In a normal system, he would be a good man, but in a disordered system, he would only choose mediocre evil.
At the end of the movie, Solomon is seen fighting a lawsuit against his slave owners and his abductors, and all of them lose. The scales of justice were inadvertently tipped, even though he was a free man. Just like the dialogue between bass and epps: "What's the difference between black people and white people?" "The difference between people and baboons."
