Venue: Scotia Bank Cinema
Event: The Spirit Lions Gate Screening Party
Originally, I wanted to say that there should be a Frank Miller movie every year, or I would be a director. It's not just adapting his works-like Sin City, like 300, all wonderful. Well, this year we have this The spirit again. Going to the screening party excitedly, but was defeated by the film's too many monologues, too single-line plot, and the most lacking character of the comic movie protagonist in recent years. Another thing that makes me feel discouraged is that this time the beautiful Scarlett Johnson was beaten by the actress in the same play again. The last time he played for his acting skills, he lost to Penelope Cruz; but this time he was for a vase. Lost to Eva Mendes.
Of course, friends who like Frank Miller's picture style should not miss this film. The white night, black figure and blood-colored tie are jumping in the air. That special texture is especially enjoyable to watch on the big screen.
ps: I also think of two things worth paying attention to (worthy of praise?). First: The protagonist's lustful humor in some scenes of the film is not Hollywood, and it has the feeling of "City Hunter" Han Yuliang. Second, those little ghost accomplices of Samuel Jackson are really fun.
