Birth of Caesar

If I want to write about Caesar's life, then I will divide it into three chapters, "Beginning - Inheriting - Ending", which will be written separately.

The birth of Caesar, including the origin of its name and the initial establishment of human nature;

Caesar's growth, especially as a leader;

Caesar's war, will a hero fall or advance in the war.

At the same time, these three plates are also an evolution, or metamorphosis, from orangutan to ape to man. In such a relatively complete series, I will write "My encounter with Caesar, acquaintance, acquaintance, and hope." First of all, let's review how Caesar grew up and evolved human nature in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes 1" as a cub who was swaddled and waiting to be fed. Is there a turning point in this?

1. Swaddling

Do you still remember the "bright eyes" that appeared at the beginning of the film? An orangutan with a protagonist face who easily plays with the Tower of Hanoi? That's right, it's her—

However, when the neurodevelopmental drug ALZ-112 was introduced for the first time, he was shot and died, and the story ended (Kai) (Shi) - a story about orangutans participating in drug trials and improving their intelligence, but there are A side effect of madness... If so, this film will never rise to the height of a masterpiece, and Andy Serkis will not be able to use this film to make "performance capture technology" in the Oscar race for best supporting actor. Went to the front again after "Avatar". Therefore, the green-eyed mother's cub-guarding behavior leads us to our protagonist, Caesar, a cub who is still swaddled and waiting to be fed, a newborn life who was once so weak no matter how you look at it.

[The name comes from Will's father's bedside reading, the phrase "As for Caesar, Kneel down, Kneel down and wonder!" in Shakespeare's description of Julius Caesar. 】

2. Am I a pet?

In the past 5 years since I was swaddled, my intelligence has soared, and I have already completed the transformation from orangutan to ape. I don't know if it is an ape or a human when I put on a suit. With a chain attached, it is indescribable. It was such a violation that triggered Caesar's first change.

I really like the plot designed by the director and the screenwriter. Caesar stood up tall, and was led by a chain around his neck. On the road, he encountered a vicious dog who was also tied with a chain. Stare, anger comes from it. Then there is the grievance - "Am I a pet?" - the endless grievances are expressed in sign language, and there is a silent inner force that makes people feel distressed. And this is just the beginning... Coincidentally, the whole sign language in "Shape of Sound", the shape of the heart shaped in silence, this story about "how to like myself" is heart-wrenching and powerful!

3. No trust, so jailbreak

Not a pet, but in this human protection world without perfect legal provisions, even if Caesar is to protect the old father of the protagonist, even if the ferocious neighbors are aggressive or even retaliate, even if Caesar later shows a look of horror.

In an unfair world, there will be unfair villains, such as the above-mentioned vicious neighbors, such as the cruel administrators mentioned below. Many people are familiar with seeing this administrator, that is, Tom Felton (Tom) who played Draco Malfoy (Malfoy) in "Harry Potter".

His banter, brutality and inhumanity aroused Caesar's rebellious side as an awakening of humanity, the so-called "do not erupt in silence or perish in silence". After holding back the "father"'s invitation to go home, Caesar started the team building and intelligence improvement plan of the orangutan companions, and the "prison break" began! (During this process, there will be a special prayer gesture of "requesting permission" between orangutans. Let's press it first and discuss the ins and outs together in the next chapter)

Here is a personal detail. The so-called wicked people have evil ways. The above-mentioned vicious neighbor plays an important role in the spread of the "gorilla flu" virus, because his occupation is a captain, and it is this wicked person who spreads the virus. To the world, triggering the end-of-life crisis of mankind.

4. Counterattack

Distributing biscuits, stealing reagents, collectively training sign language and military discipline, Caesar’s IQ development level is the highest as a result of the inheritance of the effects of ALZ-112 in his mother’s body, far exceeding the effect of the drug itself, and even more than the effect of ALZ-113 (I think This also paved the way for the perfect human nature in the process of Caesar's commanding army described later). Natural leadership emerges, and leads the orangutans to escape the so-called "sanctuary", take to the streets, rush to the pharmaceutical company, and rush to the redwood forest. In this process, there are strong individual combat (mainly relying on gorillas and orangutans), and teamwork (chimpanzees headed by Caesar and bonobos represented by Koba), using the iron fence of the zoo guardrail as a javelin to pierce the police car. A scene that must be remembered by the audience! The superb command on the long bridge even made the audience feel that Caesar was like an ancient Roman military commander who traveled through time and space, and the ape lived up to its name. The police, cavalry, and helicopter support in the war, such wonderful pictures, I hope everyone will go back to the film and enjoy it again. It is worth noting that Caesar's communication with the gorilla in the first stop of this fight against humans, from preventing him from killing humans at the beginning, to completely abandoning his previous naive ideas because of his death, this is a game. Painful hearts grow.

I don't kill Boren, but Boren died because of me; what's more, I don't resent Boren; what's more, Boren is my comrade-in-arms...

5. Caesar is Home

Going back to the big cedar tree that Caesar climbed when he first came to the redwood forest 5 years ago, the male protagonist sent an invitation to "go home" for the last time. Caesar hugged "father" maturely and whispered in his ear, "Caesar is Home" ... Yes, back home, back to race, back to nature, back to the starting point, climb high, and then look far, what will happen to the story after that? So the story of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is just the beginning (Jie) (Shu).

PS As a benefit, a collection of Caesar's vivid expressions in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes 1" will be released below. I don't know when I will see such a lively and carefree Caesar again...

Four and a half stars, a soft sci-fi masterpiece from the director of "Prison Break"! Solid, brilliant, the special effects are flawless, and the motion capture technology is amazing. The scene from ape to hostage is extremely explosive, and the details of the whole film are very anthropological, which are worth pondering and reflecting. In the street fighting stage, the ape tribe relied on cold weapons to have an absolute advantage over humans, and the final decisive battle was dazzling and hot, and it was done in one go.

Three and a half. The picture is more powerful than the subject itself. The lack of human nature makes the whole film lack of emotional conflicts. The male protagonist's role is too weak, and the humanity and animal nature of the intelligent apes are particularly vague, which also weakens the theme. I don’t know if it’s because of the cuts that make the film extreme in some way. I can only say that this is a wonderful story, with enough drama, not enough to be a classic in depth.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes quotes

  • [first lines]

Robert Franklin: [administering chimp intelligence test] Okay, okay. Here you go. And let's go again.

[gives Bright Eyes treat and clocks timer]

Will Rodman: Which one's this? Number nine?

Robert Franklin: Yeah, this is number nine. Bright Eyes, we call her. Are you watching this? This is unbelievable.

[Bright Eyes does the tower fast]

Robert Franklin: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Bright Eyes: [grabs treat and eats it]

Will Rodman: How many moves was that?

    Robert Franklin: 20.

[Will looks at them and starts to head out]

Robert Franklin: Yeah, a perfect score is 15. Doc, what are you giving her?

Will Rodman: [heads out] Hey, give that video!

[runs out the hallway and opens the door to Steven Jacobs' office]

Will Rodman: Chimp number nine, just one dose.

Steven Jacobs: [looks at Will and holds a phone down] Aren't I seeing you later?

Will Rodman: [puts file on desk] We're good to go.

Steven Jacobs: I'm going to call you back. Yeah, all right. Thanks. Bye.

Will Rodman: The 112. It works.

    [walks to a large screen]

Steven Jacobs: On just the one primate.

Will Rodman: One is all we need. Full cognitive recorvery. We're ready.

Steven Jacobs: Look are you sure you're not rushing this?

Will Rodman: I've been working on this for five and a half years. The data is clear. We're ready, Steven. All I need is your approval for human trials.

Steven Jacobs: For this, you're going to need the board's approval. There's alot of money riding on this, Will. You only get one shot.

Will Rodman: One shot is all I need.

Steven Jacobs: [sighing] All right. But I'll need to see all the research.

Will Rodman: [bangs on the desk] You got it.

    Steven Jacobs: And, Will...

    Will Rodman: Yeah?

Steven Jacobs: Keep your personal emotions out of it. These people invest in results, not dreams.

    Will Rodman: Okay.

    [leaves office]

  • Caroline Aranha: I love chimpanzees. I'm also afraid of them. And it's appropriate to be afraid of them.
