The first brand to successfully develop the Chinese wedding diamond market was De Beers. Before this company entered the mainland, the traditional treasure of the Chinese should still be gold. But with just a few marketing campaigns and a few series of advertisements, the advertising slogan "Diamonds are forever, one will last forever" has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. The diamond ring that flickers under the light and symbolizes lasting love has become a must-have prop in the minds of many young women for marriage.
I also grew up with these commercials and, like many women, had unrealistic desires for it all. I met Tiffany after work and was fascinated by Moon River. I thought that the man who proposed to me in the future must hold a The Setting. I still remember my boss Anny's engagement ring, 2 card The Setting, in the elevator's spotlight, as long as she waved her hand, I was dizzy.
After growing up slowly, many of the previous fantasies were wiped out one by one. Fantasies about men, illusions about work, illusions about ideals, illusions about human nature, illusions about society... Slowly, prejudice began to decrease, and views of things began to be more tolerant, no longer pursuing the impossible Realized things, such as lasting love, are only important when you know how to cherish every day you spend with your loved ones.
The above has nothing to do with the movie.
In fact, many expensive things are not worth such value. For example, shark's fin, bird's nest, seaweed, fur, Pu'er, diamond. It is because of human greed, profligacy of health, ignorance of beauty, distrust of the same kind, and superstition of authority that it leads to ecological destruction, species extinction, and constant wars.
Do we really need that much? Do these things really make our lives better?
Do we need love and security, or diamonds?
The above still has nothing to do with the movie.
Leonado's acting skills are really getting more and more mature. I just watched Revolutionary Road before, it's wonderful! The styling in Blood Diamond is really manly, and the struggles of humanity are well represented.
Before advertising, I like to study the psychology and behavior of consumers (rather than people) to influence them for fun. It now appears that consumerism is probably one of the greatest evils of modern society.
Everyone has the right to love what they love. For example, I like Apple's product design and would rather spend a lot of money on low-cost products. However, when we satisfy our own desires, will we actually be accomplices of evil without knowing it?
To add a little more knowledge, from Wikipedia:
Blood Diamond:
In relation to diamond trading, blood diamond (also called a converted diamond, conflict diamond, hot diamond or a war diamond) refers to a diamond mined in a war zone and sold to finance an insurgency , invading army's war efforts, or a warlord's activity, usually in Africa.
Conflict-free diamonds:
A conflict-free diamond is a diamond whose profits are not used to fund wars and which is produced and mined under ethical conditions. Only diamonds that are certified and can be traced from the mine to the consumer are conflict-free diamonds. Conflict diamonds are still being sold today into the international diamond market as clean diamonds.
