The story of the Black Cargo, this half-hour independent offshoot, hints at what, or who.
Many people say that this story is a metaphor for Pharaoh, but I don't think so. In the story of the black cargo ship, the captain experienced loneliness and fear, and finally killed his wife out of love. Pharaoh was never blinded by loneliness or fear, he never lost his mind, he knew from the beginning that millions of people would be sacrificed in exchange for world peace. I feel like this story is about Rorschach, a lonely, inner Avenger blinded by fear. Rorschach's diary corresponds to the captain's monologue. The captain said, I'm just scared. Rorschach said that only when I wore a mask would I not be afraid.
Rorschach said, we want justice. Why is he so afraid of being taken off the mask, because he is afraid to face the truth, he is afraid to face the real self.
The truth is that what he did did not bring justice, only more endless violence and killing. Why did this happen, because unlike Pharaoh, Rorschach didn't understand human nature well enough, and he didn't understand himself well enough.
At the end, Rorschach insisted on ''justice'' and insisted on telling the world the secret. He was filled with fear, and he feared that he would eventually find out that the justice he stood for was not infallible, and that feeling grew stronger. In the end he took off his mask and wept bitterly. You never saw him cry, even when he faced threats in prison. He finally confronts himself, accepts himself, and asks the Doctor to solve himself.
The captain in the story of the black cargo ship is equivalent to the prequel (metaphor) of Rorschach. This story tells how Rorschach put on the mask, and the captain climbed into the black cargo ship, which is the beginning of Rorschach putting on the mask. The main line of the movie is about how Rorschach takes off his mask step by step.
"Watchmen" is a heroic story about forbearance. Everyone has their own unique style. The pharaoh violated morality to complete his mission, the doctor was charged with crimes, and Rorschach's way was to end himself and end his boyish heroism (what the pharaoh said, probably meaning ), fulfilling the Pharaoh's plan. So he took off his mask, he faced himself, he burst into tears.
Rorschach's ideal is a beautiful and just world, but he is unwilling to destroy the less just, but a little better world created by the Pharaoh. He didn't want to compromise, so he sacrificed himself.
From climbing on the black cargo ship, putting on the mask, to taking off the mask and becoming a watchman, it is probably a reincarnation.
