but I think the most ideal part of this film is the superimposed narrative of the story and the problem-solving vision conveyed to us through the film.
First of all, through the superposition of the lives of Old Joe and Xiao Qiao, the film highlights that Joe has a rotten selfish person who sells friends for money, grows up to protect others, seeks solutions to problems, and finally sacrifices himself. The way of parallel and interlude in ancient poems highlights the key points very well.
The ideal part is that it's not a movie that still gives us sensory stimulation and stress relief, but hopefully this movie gives us some solutions to our problems. For example: how to deal with or prevent crime? How does crime arise?
The rain caller is a criminal in the future world, and the little rain caller is the germ of crime in the present world.
In order to curb this crime, Old Joe chose violence, even sacrificing the lives of other innocent children. In the end, Xiao Qiao finally realized that it was "love" not violence that prevented crimes, and he chose suicide.
At the end of the film, the mother repeatedly said to the little rain caller: Don't be afraid, mother is here, calm down and be fine. Including finally sticking the wound to the little raincaller and holding him to sleep.
This conveys the filmmakers' thoughts and suggestions for society.
I think a good film, whether it is to release pressure or bring inspiration, is more important to exchange ideas with the viewers, and to convey a solution to problems and thinking through stories and ideas. this is its success
