Before talking about how the general law in the Hero with a Thousand Faces is reflected in the Harry Potter Goblet of Fire, we first need to know what the Hero with a Thousand Faces talks about and what kind of law it discusses.

Campbell, author of the Hero with a Thousand Faces, has spent years searching and reading mythological and religious stories from all over the world, finding out what they have in common, and revealing the source of mythology. In his book, he wrote that the hero's journey consists of the following main stages: departure is to give up the current situation and enter the realm of adventure; enlightenment is to gain some kind of understanding expressed in a symbolic way; test is to fall into danger, Fight against fate; to return is to finally return to the realm of normal life again. This is a must for every hero.

The departure of a hero requires the call of adventure, that is, an opportunity for the selected hero to accept the mission and become a real hero. If the hero refuses the call, then taking risks will no longer be a positive aspect for them. The rejection of the calling turns the adventure into their negative side, and the main characters become victims who need to be rescued, and in my opinion no amount of effort can reverse the failure or destruction. For the heroes who did not refuse the call, the first person they met on the journey was the protector, and they would give the adventurer some protective magic. This is supernatural aid.

Before watching the movie I was wondering what the trigger was for Harry to be called into an adventure. The story begins with Harry waking up from a nightmare at the Weasleys' house and watching the Quidditch World Cup through a boot, after which Harry encounters the Death Eaters and comes close to going head-to-head with them. I was wondering if the boot or the Death Eaters could be the chance? Then Harry and his mates embarked on a journey back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and met Harry's goddess, Cho. The long-lost Triwizard Tournament is being re-run at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All students over the age of 17 who wish to participate must write their names on parchment into the Goblet of Fire, which will select representatives from the three schools (Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang) . Harry didn't sign up, but the Goblet of Fire brought up Harry's name, forcing him to participate. Seeing this, I suddenly realized that the previous storylines are all for the purpose of paving the way, and Harry's unexpected participation is the real call for Harry. Harry's choice to play means he has accepted the call. His conversation with Sirius revealed that he had received supernatural aid. Although the way of getting assistance is ordinary, Sirius reminded Harry that Hogwarts is no longer safe, and let Harry initially know the death eater Crozier of Azkaban, so that Harry remained on guard. After the hero accepts the call, he will cross the first threshold and will encounter the "threshold guardian" at the entrance of the enhanced area. These guardians define boundaries, which represent the boundaries of the hero's current environment or life, beyond which darkness, the unknown, and danger await. But in fact, it is only after transcending the boundaries that the individual can enter new realms of experience, either life or death. Wherever and whenever, adventure means going beyond the known, into the unknown, and the forces that guard the frontier are dangerous. Dealing with them is dangerous, but for the able and courageous, the danger disappears. But as long as the hero enters the land of rebirth through the mysterious threshold, the hero does not have the ability to conquer the threshold and can only be swallowed into the unknown, and even his life is in danger. After Harry entered the game, Professor Minerva, the "liminal guardian", worried that Harry would be in danger or even lost his life and tried to prevent Harry from participating in the game, but in the end it was unsuccessful. The first level of the game is to defeat a real dragon and get the golden egg. Harry did run into danger when crossing the first threshold: being chased by a dragon, falling off a bridge, etc. But Harry eventually overcame difficulties and got the golden egg. This is the successful crossing of the first threshold and entering the belly of the whale - the unknown second level. After entering the belly of the whale, the hero's journey enters the stage of enlightenment. Once the threshold is reached, the hero enters an ever-changing and elusive secret realm. This is the way of testing. The hero has to pass tough obstacles again and again. Before officially entering the zone, heroes are surreptitiously assisted by supernatural helpers for advice, amulets, and secret means. Here, too, the hero may find a benevolent force everywhere, which always supports him in his transhuman journey. In order to get the hint of the second level, Harry needs to solve the secret of the golden egg obtained in the first level, which is unknown to Harry. At this time, Cedric, as the second helper, prompted Harry to take a shower in the prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor. After Harry went to take a bath, he met the crying Myrtle again and Harry succeeded in unlocking the secret of the Golden Egg. Next, Harry received Neville's help to pass the second level. In the third level here is the climax of the plot, the rebirth of Voldemort and the death of Cedric are huge setbacks for Harry. Sirius, Cedric, Myrtle, and a special purpose Crouch all help Harry to a certain extent through adventure and growth. I didn't understand some parts, such as the meaning of the appearance of the goddess Qiu, which should be reflected in the next part, and which plot the temptation of the temptress and the reconciliation with the heavenly father refer to.

So long, so long, so long, and Hermione’s clothes are a bit thunderous, it feels like they were bought from Target

Finally finished the last part of the HP series. It turns out that DT also participated in this film. Although there are not many scenes, it is really funny to play the villain with the face of Doctor Who!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire quotes

  • Hermione: Look at this! I can't believe it, she's done it again!

    [reading from the Daily Prophet]

Hermione: 'Miss Granger, a plain but ambitious girl, seems to be developing a taste for famous wizards. Her latest prey, sources report, is none other than the Bulgarian bon-bon Viktor Krum. No word yet on how Harry Potter's taking this latest emotional blow.'

  • Hermione: Victor's gone to get drinks. Would you care to join us?

Ron: No, we would not care to join you and *Victor*.

Hermione: What's got your wand in a knot?

Ron: He's from Durmstrang! You're fraternizing with the enemy!

Hermione: The enemy? Who was it wanting his autograph? Besides the whole point of the tournament is international magical cooperation. To make friends!

Ron: I think he's got a bit more than friendship on his mind. He's using you.

Hermione: How dare you! Besides, I can take care of myself!

Ron: Doubt it. He's way too old.

Hermione: What? That's what you think?

Ron: Yeah, that's what I think.

Hermione: You know the solution, then, don't you?

    Ron: Go on.

Hermione: Next time there's a ball pluck up the courage to ask me before someone else does! And not as a last resort!

Ron: Well... that... that's completely off the point...
