Viewing experience: a drag racing movie with a unique art style

I finally watched this classic work that was buried in the film list for a long time. Because of the influence of the previously popular "Baby Driver", I took advantage of this trend to take out this drag racing movie that looks very similar at first glance.

Rather than being similar, I think the two movies are basically similar, but they both have their own styles, so even if you watch the two together, you will not feel that one is slightly inferior to the other, and this article will still focus on the experience "Drive" (Drive), and also a little discussion of the two different ways of expression.

In addition to watching Ryan Gosling play handsome, this film is actually worth watching whether it is music, color tone, and mirror movement.

The first thing to mention is the hue.
The colors used in this film are very few but very saturated. The representative color of the male protagonist Driver is dark blue, and the representative color of the female protagonist Irene is orange. In fact, during the viewing process, it is easy to find that even the use of such colors is very rigid. Driver's gloomy personality corresponds to the night after the sunset, and Irene's warmth naturally corresponds to the sunset.
But what's interesting is that these two colors with different tones have similar endings in this film; the dark blue at night finally turns into a dull black at midnight, and the bright orange at sunset, after all Gotta meet the night.

In addition, the soundtrack of this film is also very good. The tense atmosphere and the ticking sound of the clock make the time pressure even stronger. The psychedelic sense of the theme song "A Real Hero" is also in line with the style of this film.

But when it comes to the soundtrack, of course, I have to mention the latest work "Baby Driver" directed by Edgar Wright, and even the rhythm is matched exactly; although the whole film is connected by music, it is not a typical song and dance movie. The scripts complement each other and retain their own charm and characteristics at the same time. In addition, the addition of "earphones", a long-standing and emerging equipment (character), makes the audience more empathetic. After leaving the cinema and putting on headphones, they can immediately recall the movie. Not only the movie itself is full of memory points, but even after stepping out of the cinema, it can bring a certain degree of influence to the audience. It is really an excellent example of the combination of music and film.

There is also the movement of the camera in this film. I am particularly impressed by the encounter between Driver and Irene in a supermarket. I like the movement of the camera that is consistent and follows the footsteps of the actors.
On the one hand, it is because of the colorful and tidy merchandise and the composition of the actors in the aisle of the shopping mall, and on the other hand, the movement of the mirror is very stable and does not make people feel dizzy (similar to the movement of the mirror in Song to Song. dizzy).
It's one of my favorite shots, and the whole film was as comfortable and smooth as I said about the clip.

However, I think the art design of this film is sometimes too deliberate.
For example, the best elevator kiss scene, the lighting and the cinematography, can suddenly make the story too dreamy and unrealistic, although that may be what the director wants to express, the love of a race car driver can be like a race car. The competition also showed amazing skills, but it was too much tones and too deliberate, which made me and my friends talk a lot.
In addition, there are many splicing techniques that use "fusion + superimposition". Since I don't see any need to use it, it also gives me a bit of a deliberate feeling.

However, on the whole, it is a work worth watching. The part of the plot is not particularly necessary to discuss, so I will not say much.
It's a solid work, with criminal tension and a love story full of pink bubbles; especially, if you're a Ryan Gosling fan, come watch this one, he figured out the cool driver's smile is real It's so cute and will definitely melt, I was also overwhelmed by his acting after watching this movie!
