the great terri gilliam

I saw 12 monkeys a long time ago, and I thought it was a classic sci-fi movie. I recently watched a few Terry Gilliam films, including Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

What a strange film, all kinds of strange ah. Has a particularly distinctive and typical Gilliam style. He was as unruly as ever. For the government, authority, system, convention, all restraints, he is always full of sarcasm and ridicule. His sci-fi world is always:

cold,
everyone is extremely lonely,
communication between people is limited and pale, mutual distrust,
no saviour, hero The
future is always highly institutionalized, highly governmental, the
protagonist keeps struggling Living for himself, he would rather suffer the virus and die than go back to that high-government society.

There is drama everywhere, and even science fiction itself has become the object of ridicule. No fancy high-tech gear. For example, a broken telephone can make a call to the future; for example, scientists or endless mistakes; even communication tools are incredible, whimsical, the way people send messages in the future is: write letters on paper, roll them up The bobbin, stuffed into a pipe that connects the world, slides to the recipient.

It's infinitely close to reality, but it seems to be so different from reality

that some people have to ask, is this the above sci-fi film? The future high-tech is like a random imagination by a person with no culture. Is there such a clumsy future high-tech? You may even wonder if this is science fiction or fantasy. Is the underground part (2032) fantasy, or the aboveground part (1996) fantasy?

The world of the little girl on the coast of high tide, the huge spaceship, the strange friends, are all her imaginations, because she is so lonely!

If you are anti-government, if you hate all rules, if you are lonely, if you long for pure nature and true freedom, but there is nothing you can do to achieve it. Then go to a Terry Lilliam movie to fantasize. Note that because of pessimism, the imagined world cannot be separated from the cold and dark reality.

At the beginning, I felt a little unintelligible, but after slowly seeing the end, I would feel wonderful.
