0/2 No matter the past or the future, I just want to be with you now

A heartwarming film with a sad ending.
The time line is a bit complicated, I didn't make it very clear, I basically understood it, and I guessed the ending when I saw the second half. Time travel is almost the same routine: you know the past, but you can't change it; you go back to the past, but instead changed it.

In 2016, the earth was ruled by animals, most people died in a virus attack, and a few people survived and lived underground, planning to return to the surface.
Scientists invented a time machine to send the criminal Cole back to 1996 and let him trace the cause of the virus. As a result, Cole returned to 1990 and was locked in a mental hospital, where he met the son of a biological expert and a female psychiatrist. Cole returned to 2016
and Cole traveled again. During World War II, Cole was shot in the leg.
Cole traveled again. In 1996, he kidnapped the female psychiatrist and searched for clues with the heroine, and found that the son of the biological expert may have stolen it. Virus, Cole back in 2016. At this time, scientists believed that Cole had completed the task, and he was amnesty and rewarded.
Cole asked to cross again. By 1996, ready to spend a lifetime with the heroine and cut off the connection with the future, the two began to flee. As a result, on the day of the incident, Cole discovered that the biological expert's son had only released the animal and did not steal the virus. Cole called the fixed number and told the future that the original clue was wrong.
Cole's partner came from the future and handed it over to Cole. When Cole and the heroine were about to get on the plane, they encountered the real murderer. Cole chased
the murderer, but was shot by the police. Little Cole saw it all. The heroine saw little Cole and understood everything Cole said before

PS: I still haven't seen a satisfactory review, two keys are:
1. How did Cole's companion travel in time and space?
- I understand that after Cole's death, Cole's companions performed the task of going back to the past - trying to stay in the past by knocking out his teeth - affecting Cole in the past, forming a cycle. . .
2. Was the female scientist on the last plane from the future?
——Yes, after she got the exact information, she came to take samples.

My understanding: 1. The ready-made history cannot be changed. People in 2035 just ask to go back and find the original virus to make the antidote and change the world after 2035. On the plane in 1996, the female scientist sat next to the assistant and hinted that the pathogen had been found, and maybe the world after 2035 could be saved; 2. James went back, and later misunderstood that he misled the mental patient and directly caused the disaster, but in the process Scientists are mistakenly asked to change the password, the new password is known by the assistant

There are countless jewels and jewels, and the later you see it, the less shocking it is. However, because it is the first time to see the sci-fi tragedy of the apocalyptic pattern, the favor is greatly increased. Without giving any reversal to symbolize hope, the climax of the scene is to make up for the incomplete truth. This is how we watch those efforts to prevent disasters and eventually become part of the disaster. The beauty is miserable, and it is also very beautiful. When it comes to "The Embankment" that inspired the film, it's a different story.
