A shot at the end

Watching this movie will be tiring. In the narrow space, the camera followed the actors around like headless flies, and there was an unstoppable drumbeat in my ears.

The main line of the story, an out-of-date star, the former superhero Birdman, wants to get back to the top of his career with a Broadway play. He tried every means to make himself visible, but his idea was outdated, he thought that if he did a good Broadway play, he could be seen like gold. He refuses all social media, and doesn't even say hello to the most authoritative drama critic in New York when he meets him at a bar.

He devoted all of himself to this show, but the limelight was stolen by another actor who was painstakingly invited. However, by chance, when he came out to smoke a cigarette between performances, the door closed automatically, locking him out, and clipping his robe. In order to continue the performance, he had to go around naked to the main entrance of the theater. It was so bad that people in Times Square recognized him and posted a video of him running down the street hunched over in nothing but underwear and socks. He was on fire all of a sudden, even in this way.

Having tasted the sweetness in this matter, he also learned to change. He even tried to approach the critic the second time he met, but it ended in a quarrel. He was so depressed. After a drunken street, he realized it! Now audiences like excitement, they like blood, they like action, not rambling lines.

The ending of the movie is really unexpected, I didn't expect the protagonist to be so decisive. This shot turned him into a real birdman (look at the gauze bandage on his face), a person who can do anything. A person who can shoot himself, what can't he do? This shot made him a legend in the history of drama, so is he dedicated to art, or to himself? Dedication for oneself, is it still called devotion? Anyway, he no longer rams around in tight spaces like the headless fly at the beginning of the movie, he becomes a bird and flies in the vast sky.

The original intent of the film was not to be ironic. It is probably about exploring what kind of torture a person can get from what he wants, especially how he will face when you take away the most precious thing he originally had. There is nothing more sad than the end of the hero and the twilight of the beauty.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) quotes

  • Sylvia: You know, just because I didn't like that ridiculous comedy you did with Goldie Hawn did not mean I did not love you. That's what you always do. You confuse love for admiration.

  • Clara: Now, is it true that you've been injecting yourself with semen from baby pigs?

    Riggan: I'm sorry, what?

Clara: As a method of facial rejuvenation.

Riggan: Where did you read that?

Clara: It was tweeted by @prostatewhispers.

    Riggan: No, that's not true.

Clara: I know, but did you do it?

Riggan: No, I didn't do it.

Clara: Okay, then I'll just write that you're denying it.

Riggan: No, don't write anything! Why would you write anything? I didn't... don't write what she said.
