Moriarty only appears at the end, illustrating the writer's ambition that there must be a next installment in the series. This movie is quite similar in character and rhythm to the British drama that came out a year later. Maybe I should watch the earlier version. Maybe it's the same style. However, in addition to the above two points, the style of the director's storytelling, the level of the screenwriter and the way of photography make this type of story show a completely different state.
With my IQ, I don't know why I watch detective movies? Enjoy the thrill of getting your IQ crushed...but in this movie, although I didn't think of the villain's criminal methods, I know there must be no magic, so the only remaining explanation is science. Sure enough, when the secret was finally revealed, there was childcare and science. In a trance, I feel like watching a magic show, and my IQ is abused enough. The content is not full enough, and it directly leads to the rhythm of stylized shots and editing is not fast enough and enjoyable enough. A more intuitive example, a 2-hour movie, there are 5 fighting scenes, an average of 25 minutes. It's just a matter of disagreement, and there is no reason to fight. Although the action scenes can lift the spirits of the audience, for a story that should have a rich plot, not only is it not an advantage, but it disrupts the audience's attention. To put it simply, the time to show your brain is taken up by the time to show your muscles, and as a result, the show is incomplete in both aspects, and there is a feeling of strength and weakness.
The only thing I enjoyed watching in this movie was the looks, and the two male protagonists were so charming. The fly in the ointment is that I think their temperament is relatively similar. Although Watson will be milder and Holmes will be wiser, they are essentially the same people, that is, they understand each other and trust each other. The first part is already in the state of an old couple, so that there is no tension when they are in the same frame. However, in the plot, Sherlock Holmes went to gamble, and Watson tried his best to save him or something, which is still very beautiful.
Other aspects: values, not feeling; music, whether it's a fight or an autopsy, it's quite lighthearted and cheerful; color, no way historically, London was gray at that time.
