Perhaps for this reason, after a long wait, The Battle of Smaug didn't give me the same surprises as its predecessors. The story is as straightforward as ever, and unfolds like a game-player, which is negligible, since Peter Jackson's fantasy series has always been that way. The most unacceptable thing for me is the procrastination of the content of the story itself. Even in some wonderful bridges, the whole rhythm is still not fast enough, making people feel no anxiety and tension when danger is approaching. This feeling is especially prominent in the part where everyone fought Smaug after they entered the castle. Although Smaug was originally a pompous dragon, too much dialogue and too long time delay made the most exciting paragraph boring. . In addition, the ending of the movie is not my favorite type. Since a series of multiple movies like this is presented in the form of a movie, it should be related to each other but each has a chapter. The Lord of the Rings trilogy back then The same is true, but the ending of "The Battle of Smaug" is very similar to the end of an episode of a TV show. What about the future? Please listen to the breakdown after a year. It was frustrating.
Of course, no matter what, there are still many advantages to such a large-scale film. From the growing maturity of the cast, to the beautiful pictures and the beautiful theme song, they all continue the unified standard of Peter Jackson's magical series, but these elements alone will not satisfy the spoiled audience.
The 160-minute film length, coupled with 3D glasses, makes this film require sufficient patience and physical strength to watch it. Personally, I don't think "The Battle of Smaug" is as good-looking as its predecessor, "An Unexpected Journey". I sincerely hope that the third "Go and Return" will not repeat the mistakes of this work and give this series the most exciting ending. .
