Cthulhu regards all things as cud dogs

Kubrick deeply grasped the relationship between man and the universe.

1968 was the year before the successful Apollo 11 landing on the moon. In this year, human beings have not yet set foot on extraterrestrial planets, and their imaginations have long traveled to the outer world. What exactly is there in outer space? Is it like the search for colonies in the Age of Navigation, with endless spice and gold; or is it like a dark virgin jungle, blocked by the sword of a tribe that suddenly burst out from the silence?

If human beings are arrogant on earth, in "2001 Interstellar Odyssey", under the lens of Kubrick, the unease when facing the unknown and the mystery is the background.

The obsidian crystallized these emotions. Black and shiny, with sharp edges and corners; no words, no imprints, only the setting sun is like blood, half-illuminated from the top. It appeared when man was a chimpanzee, so the orangutan picked up a femur, killed the opponent, shattered the bones, broke the chain; when man went to the moon, it appeared, and curiosity was hastily interrupted ; it appeared when man had just killed (yes, killed) the crazy computer and headed to Jupiter in shock, so the spaceship fell into the most bizarre time and space, and after people passed through the real and the fantasy world, on Jupiter Not only did he find the same house and furnishings as the earth, but he also spent his life in solitude in this empty room. After his death, he turned into a star child as big as the earth, watching the earth.

- Cthulhu!

No one knows what obsidian is; but it must not be a god, the kind that looks at the nether world, punishes evil and promotes good, and guides the maze. The stone is more like a collection of my childhood fears of the night. Lying alone in bed, they often run out of bed crying in fright: "Mom and Dad, the moon is staring at me, it's scary!" They say "what's so scary about the moon", that's what they don't know, it's bright and yellowish the moon, and at some point a shadowless monster would turn out from behind and swallow me through the window.

Fear is the base color for people to face the dark and the unknown. Curiosity comes from safety, fear comes from survival. Maybe Lao Ku doesn't know the origin of obsidian, but he will tell us: Respect it, don't talk about strange power, it's okay.

two

Kubridge photographed the essence of "heaven and earth are not benevolent, and all things are dogs".

There is no protagonist in the crowd; although there is no destruction and killing, there are always eyes staring at you in the vast universe, but they don't care about you; human beings and other inanimate objects are treated the same. I wonder what Christians in America thought of it when it was first released.

If the world does not have a master who thinks like man, but only has the laws of physics, "the sky is always changing", where should people place their meaning, even if they conquer the solar system, and finally find themselves still living in a cave?

three

It turned out that the bone tool and the space station were only five seconds away.

Modern people, people in industrial society, often think that they are the center of the world, the pride of the universe: "You can go to the nine heavens to embrace the moon, and you can go to the five oceans to catch turtles." However, since a bone is thrown, it is a spaceship to fly into space. After the apes say goodbye, how much progress will human beings have?

Not totally evil. The Soviet and American astronauts were suspicious of each other and kept secret about the secrets on the satellite, but at least they were still sitting together. HAL killed the frozen scientist and Frank, but he was also "good at his words when he was about to die", his singing gradually became hoarse, who could not sigh, much like Li Si sighing a yellow dog - HAL is evil, but like a flesh and blood bad guy.

Not totally good. When a man was still an orangutan, he had to fight for survival resources; when he became a man, in such an important task as interstellar voyage, the instructions from the earth seemed so careless. (Yes, the apparent evil is easy to capture, but when I recall it, I find the deep evil, which I have not been able to grasp)

There is struggle and there is cooperation. Regardless of the intrigue on the ground, humans still share a common curiosity and desire to explore. Serendipity, accidentally discovered, can be so (comfortable) for apes, and for humans is to deliberately let curiosity guide and drive oneself, in intentional and unintentional discoveries, enjoy it and use it. Just like at this time, I was looking for superconductivity in thin film systems.

2001: A Space Odyssey quotes

  • Interviewer: HAL, you have an enormous responsibility on this mission, in many ways perhaps the greatest responsibility of any single mission element. You're the brain, and central nervous system of the ship, and your responsibilities include watching over the men in hibernation. Does this ever cause you any lack of confidence?

HAL: Let me put it this way, Mr. Amor. The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.

  • Aries-1B stewardess: [first lines; instructing to a approaching man] Here you are, sir, main level please.
