It's almost an all-star movie, but the plot is a bit bizarre.
In the beginning, was the RV driven by an old woman or a ten-year-old ALEX with an IQ? If an elderly woman was driving, it would be understandable for her to drive into a residential area and wait to abduct a child; but it was ALEX in the car when the police found it on the side of the road at night. But if ALEX is driving, what is he doing by the side of the road in a residential area? Little girls occasionally encounter RVs on the roadside. It is understandable to climb for a while out of curiosity or for fun, but they have agreed to go home to play, but they are not motivated enough to go to the RV by the roadside, not to mention strangers. Under the circumstances, the two little girls should not have entered the RV rashly, nor should they have forced them, because when the police searched the car later, no traces were found on the car.
Even with a ten-year-old IQ, why did ALEX stop for a long time by the gas station and someone called the police? After the police came, why did the car suddenly crash into the car?
Gyllenhaal seems to be the only detective in the police department? Isn't this kind of disappearance or even a possible murder case usually involving two detectives?
The police found out that the secret of the priest's house was also outrageous by coincidence. What's more, after the priest's murder, the basement environment was not corrupted, and there were no rats or the like to destroy the corpse? The priest didn't take advantage of the dark and windy night to bury the body?
In fact, the maze diagram has nothing to do with this case.
What was the purpose of Jackman's last visit to the old woman's house?
In short, the cast is very strong, but the storyline is not rigorous, there is no particularly attractive and finally realized feeling.
