Shrek's Theory of Happiness

He's ugly, he has green skin, he's a monster, but it's such an ugly monster that I love.

To be honest, I almost spit out the food in my mouth when I saw Shrek taking a bath and eating at the beginning, but when I saw the dinner later, I realized that I had just vomited early. But what is worth noting here is that he is not as sloppy as some ordinary bachelors. On the contrary, the meticulous washing in the morning and the formal dinner can all reflect that he has a very serious life and enjoys life. It can also be said that life is exquisite. (Although it looks disgusting, but the exquisite life of monsters is not like that)

I don't want to say much about the plot. Although it is very new, I think the most interesting part of this movie is not the plot, because to put it bluntly, it is still a story of a knight saving a princess .

However, this movie is very different from other fairy tale animation movies (The Lion King, Snow White, Cinderella) in that it parodies almost all classic fairy tales and subverts the stereotype of ordinary people's fairy tales. The resistance to fairy tales here basically runs from beginning to end: the protagonist is not a handsome man nor a cute elf or animal, but "an ugly and stupid monster", the plot that should have been a knight saving the princess has become unimaginable ; grabbing all the characters in fairy tales also seems like a bad taste of the director; the female dragon who is tempted by the donkey's rhetoric; rescued the princess without the warrior Dragon Quest; does not need a kiss of true love to call the princess Awake; the monster did not become a prince in the end. It can be seen that the director is full of malice for past fairy tales. (Big Fog)

Although the filming did not follow Disney's routine, the director did not disappoint us. He made us have a lot of fun by making jokes about traditional fairy tales, and through Shrek's story, it triggered more thinking.

At first glance, Shrek was ugly and stupid, and he looked like a big, big, stupid man. At the same time, his eating habits and habits deepened our impression. But as long as you watch it patiently for 20 to 30 minutes, you will find that this is not the case. He pays great attention to etiquette when he eats, and he is very flexible and skillful in fighting with the king's soldiers. It's not just the limbs that are developed, the mind is also developed. From the lock-throated dragon to the trapping of the dragon, it can be seen that he is actually brave and resourceful. Don't talk nonsense with the princess, focus on tasks, and be a doer. It's just that he has been misunderstood by people's appearance for too long. In his own words, "they didn't understand me and came to a conclusion." (They judge me, before they even know me.)

In fact, we don't do this kind of judging people by appearances. The simplest example, seeing the princess become ugly in the end and living with him, I'm afraid not everyone likes it. Although I know that they are very happy, there is still a knot in my heart, and there is still a trace of unwillingness, right?

We all like to see the looks of the golden boy and the jade girl, but isn't the true love between them more important? Many people know this truth, but I am afraid not everyone is willing to accept it. Therefore, there is still a little expectation for his Prince Charming, and he is still a little unwilling to live. Some people may say, "Isn't it normal to pursue beautiful things? Wouldn't it be better if we could have the best of both worlds?" So this movie is well-made, what choice do we have to make when reality is not so full? Is it to face your heart and be brave to love, or wait a little longer, maybe you will meet a better one in the future.

In fact there is no real answer to this, but I believe that the brave man has an idea in mind.

It's worth mentioning that Princess Fiona's spell is "By night one way, by day another. This shall be the norm until you find true love's first kiss and then, take love's true from" which means she will become the image of true love , a bit tragic and solemn of marrying a chicken into a chicken and marrying a dog into a dog. But I'm afraid that's the only way to live a better life with your sweetheart.

A few more words can be said about Fiona, in fact, she has always been burdened by a princess. Including the ceremony that a princess should have (wake up with the kiss of true love) and the beautiful appearance that a princess should have (still thinking she will become beautiful in the end). However, just like "a woman is a person who pleases herself", although it did not become what she imagined, Shrek said that beauty is enough.

The ending is similar to other fairy tales, and the two live happily ever after. It seems to show that even ordinary people/ugly (please don't fight) can have fairy tale happiness.

Finally, listening to the original soundtrack is recommended. Great music.

In the end, I will send this sentence to everyone and wish you happiness.

Shrek quotes

  • Shrek: Thank you, thank you very much. I'm here 'til Thursday. Try the veal.

  • Donkey: Okay, let me get this straight: you gonna go fight a dragon and rescue a princess just so Farquaad'll give you back your swamp, which you only don't have 'cause he filled it full of freaks in the first place. Is that about right?

Shrek: You know what? Maybe there's a good reason donkeys shouldn't talk.
