Is Trainspotting not an inspirational film?

Finally watched this movie today. Quite British film, shooting techniques, soundtrack, tone, characters, dialogue, are all British. A British friend once used a phrase to describe this movie to me: a heavy movie. My understanding of heavy is heavy, and the theme of the film is too heavy: choices. To quote Shakespeare's words: To be or not to be, that's a question. What is placed in front of the protagonist of the story is the choice.

First of all, let’s talk about the plot. The movie has a lot of naked descriptions about drug use. Here, some people think that the drug use plot is a misleading movie to the audience, but I hold an opposite opinion. The detailed description of drug use is necessary. The reason is like Like war movies, only by exposing the ugliness of war to people will people cherish peace and stay away from war. Only by portraying the hideous face of drugs can people have a real understanding of drugs and stay away from drugs. Compared with the traditional "anti-drug education film" in the student days, Trainspotting has less senseless moral preaching, more truth, and faces the ugly. After all, Trainspotting can still be an anti-drug film...

Comments on the plot are bullshit So far, back to the subject of the movie. In the film, Renton is telling his own story, which is actually a life choice. Renton's monologue begins:

"Choose life, choose work, choose career, choose family. Choose a fucking big TV. Choose washing machine, car, CD player, electric can opener. Choose healthy, low calorie, low sugar. Choose a fixed rate mortgage. Choose a starting point, choose a friend, choose a tracksuit and a suitcase. Choose a fucking three-piece suit. … Choose a DIY, and on a Sunday morning, don’t know who the fuck you are. Choose Watching boring shows on the couch and stuffing junk food in your mouth. Choosing rot and making a selfish kid from your sperm to replace you is arguably the most shameless thing. Choose your future, your life. But I Why do I do it? I choose not to live, I choose something else. The reason? There is no reason. As long as there is heroin, what reason is there?"

Between sinking and positivity, the confused Renton chose sinking.
People often stand at the crossroads, everything outside forces us to make choices, we will be confused, we may sink like Renton, but his way is more extreme than ours. Falling is a good way to escape from reality, but sinking is just a kind of spiritual opium used to self-anesthetize. When the day of awakening comes, we will suddenly realize our ignorance and regret our stupid choice. The film ends with Renton's monologue. The theme echoes from beginning to end. Renton found the salvation of his soul. He chose to change himself and choose life. Indeed, life is what we really need: jobs, careers, families, fucking big TVs, washing machines, cars, CD players, electric can openers... Life is what truly maximizes self-worth .
