be your own king.

Are there such people around you? Sensitive, melancholic, taciturn, extreme temper. Such people tend to have gentle and kind eyes, even a little cowardly, their lips are often closed, and their chins are upturned, making people feel indifferent and arrogant. When talking to people, they don't look at others, they look at other objects or only look at their trusted family members.
Occasionally, my brother and sister-in-law invited Ah Ben and I to eat hot pot at home, and randomly clicked on the King's speech on the huge TV in his house. I missed a lot of the plot between the steaming hot pot, and I watched it roughly, but the dry stuttering voice from Bertie's throat was impressive. So I took the time to read it carefully.
George VI (Bertie) was an introvert and stuttered because of his repressed childhood, until he met Lionel, his language teacher, at the recommendation of his wife. Through psychological counseling, Lionel was both a teacher and a friend. George VI took over the important task when the national disaster was on the horizon, and successfully overcame his stuttering problem. He delivered his first wartime speech, which was well received by the people. Trust and support.
Introverts, in today's society, are more and more like aliens. They don't seem to be responsive enough to show enough enthusiasm for what's in front of them. People are more and more impatient with such people, and sometimes they will be forgotten by others because of their long silence and softness, and even their own power will be forgotten. Introverts are often like a hot briquettes, and the heat accumulated in their hearts must be released, but they refuse to release because they are too kind and are afraid of burning others, which has become their own torture.
Bertie is lucky. Neither his wife nor his language doctor has forgotten his strength. While Bertie lost confidence in herself, his wife was still looking for a doctor without telling him. When he found Lionel, he had confidence in his unknown patient. I have confidence in patients who want to heal themselves. He said.
Bertie certainly wants to heal herself, every introvert does. Lionel's nonsensical therapy, Bertie did almost religiously: he let Bertie sing, dance, stretch his body to the fullest, roll around on the ground like a child while reciting tongue twisters only for children. For an introvert, doing all this in front of outsiders would be fatal.
There is no end in sight to the cure of stuttering, and Bertie's unsatisfactory brother has lost all face of the royal family after inheriting the throne. Bertie was once again mired in fear and melancholy, and was reluctant to face the possibility of her own succession to the throne. He left Lionel far behind in the garden, then gave up his long-held quit smoking in a grumpy mood. Lionel came home disappointed and said while chatting with his wife that if my patient could let go of his fears, he could be a great person.
In the end, Bertie was almost forced to inherit the throne, and he could no longer be cowardly: the country faced a difficult war, and he wanted his voice to be heard by the people and his firmness to be heard in the war. In his first wartime speech, Bertie still invited Lionel to cheer him up. Under Lionel's guidance, Bertie had almost no stutter. When he came out of the studio, Bertie's eyes were confident and relaxed, and he was less melancholy.

"My husband needs to speak in public."
"Then maybe he should change careers."
"He can't."
"He... signed a contract?"
"So to speak."
Like Bertie's wife talking to Lionel at the beginning of the film In that case, stuttering is not something that can be avoided by changing careers. In life, each of us has problems that cannot be avoided, but not everyone has the courage to solve them. Only by overcoming the problem can he become the king of his own kingdom.

PS
I watched this movie in February. When I saw it, I had a special feeling in my heart, because it really had the shadow of Ah BEN. In fact, A BEN really likes this movie, as well as Forrest Gump, two inspirational movies. A Ben is an introvert. I still remember the disappointment when I saw him for the first time: he was silent, he dared not look at people, and he stuttered slightly when he spoke. It was not until I got acquainted later that I realized that he was innocent, pure and kind like a child.
Yes, I have such an introvert by my side, he is sensitive, melancholy, and reserved...I know you have your kingdom too, but I often forget this willfully, and every time I lose my patience and love for each other. When you have faith, you always wait for me quietly and calmly and accept me. So even though it was so hard to write a review, I forced myself to finish it as a memorial :) You will be king of your kingdom. I'm going to believe this more and more. I'll always by your side.

Composure, precision and painstaking effort, the only thing Colin Firth has to worry about before Oscars is the dress and speech. You can't find such an actor. Queen Helena is too cute. There is no goth in the nobles, you can't find it. Such an actress

The King's Speech quotes

  • King George VI: ...a sieve of thisted siffles!

  • King George VI: In this grave hour, perhaps the most fateful in our history, I send to every household of my peoples, both at home and overseas, this message, spoken with the same depth of feeling for each one of you, as if I were able to cross your threshold and speak to you myself: For the second time in the lives of most of us, we are at... at war. Over and over again we have tried to find a peaceful way out of the differences between ourselves and those who are now our enemies, but it has been in vain. We have been forced into a conflict, for we are called to meet the challenge of a principle, which, if it were to prevail, would be fatal to any civilized order in the world. Such a principle, stripped of all disguise, is surely the mere primitive doctrine that "might is right." For the sake of all that we ourselves hold dear, it is unthinkable that we should refuse to meet the challenge. It is to this high purpose that I now call my people at home, and my peoples across the seas, who will make our cause their own. I ask them to stand calm and firm and united in this time of trial. The task will be hard. There may be dark days ahead, and war can no longer be confined to the battlefield, but we can only do the right as we see the right, and reverently commit our cause to God. If one and all we keep resolutely faithful to it, then, with God's help, we shall prevail.
