Recruit training has been seen in many movies or TV dramas. Uniform clothing, strong physique, cultivating comrades-in-arms feelings, and the hard-hearted teachings of the instructors are most of the manifestations. Occasionally, Korean and Taiwanese artists refuse to serve in the military or ordinary soldiers. Being bullied is considered by the public to be an accidental phenomenon.
But "Full Metal Jacket" directly exposed the truth. The instructors manipulated the ideal American soldier in various ways such as authoritative blows, swearing, various sexual jokes, and internal bullying. It shows that people who have grown up and educated from civilization, the kindness and soft human nature in their bodies are slowly stripped away, alienating the "killer" holding "weapon" . Pyle was a victim of the process.
The Poker clown came to Vietnam as a rule adaptor, obedient defender like most people, "Born to kill" and wearing the Peace Medal for his dual humanity. During the interview, the captain who boasted of killing 150 people, and the "beast" with the body of a male Vietnamese placed beside him, both showed different Killers. It is not difficult to understand the atrocities committed by Killer in the Vietnam War.
Kubrick is like Dr. Strangelove, the ever-present androgen admiration and sexual satire in the U.S. military. Ironically, the war ended with the shooting and killing of a 12-year-old Vietnamese female soldier.
