Full Metal Jacket is a war film about the U.S. military and the Vietnam War, directed by Stanley Kubrick. The metal casing in the movie's title refers to the hard shell that coats those recruits. During the Vietnam War, a group of young men who joined the Marine Corps shaved their hair and received training from the devil instructor in the boot camp. The first half of the training took place in this training camp. Under the training and abuse of the devil instructor, they were trained to become A ruthless killing machine. Among them, there is a fat man "Fool Pyle" who always made mistakes in training, so he was targeted by the instructors everywhere. The squad leader "Clown" would always comfort him and take care of him, but one day because of "Fool Pyle"'s mistakes, the instructor punished him. the whole class, so in the evening the whole class of recruits beat up. At the end of the boot camp, weapons were issued to all the recruits. On the night of the departure, "Pyle" filled his weapons with bullets, killed the instructor with one shot, and then swallowed the gun and committed suicide. The instructor was still reprimanding him a moment before he was killed, and in the end he never thought that he would end up like this. Later, "Clown" joined the news department and became a war correspondent. The climax of the film happened at the end. In a scene where the clown killed a Vietnamese female sniper, at that moment we saw the beauty of human nature. On the one hand - kindness. The director describes the variation of human beings in war and violence from the indictment of war, and the duality of human beings is vividly displayed in such a special background age. The Vietnam War was nothing but more bloody brutality and plunder by the United States under the pretext of a so-called civilization and democracy. When everyone was training, the commander repeatedly emphasized the national consciousness and responsibility, and the dignity and pride of the Marine Corps. Under the pretext of national pride, human rights, and democracy, people are domesticated, so that they gradually lose their humanity and become machines of violence. And the innocent soldier is the victim of this practice. The weakening of his humanity is accompanied by the increase of mechanical violence, and under these excuses, people gradually move away from the realm of humanity. These recruits in the movie are victims of war, which gives the United States a head-on attack on the so-called democracy and human rights rhetoric. That's the classic of this movie.
