Sin City: Extreme Embodiment of Formalism

At midnight, I watched the legendary "Sin City," which is a bloody film that is defined as an R-rated film. My heart is full of fear, but I can't help the temptation of that rich color, maybe more than just color.

There is a deep sentence at the beginning and end, I love you, but it seems to be two kinds of feelings.

In the beginning, in the black-and-white city, a charming girl in red with red lips, like her skirt, lit up the night sky of the city. She did not know, at this time, that death has quietly approached. The handsome killer is like reciting Shakespeare's 3monologue and sings a beautiful sacrificial speech for the girl. When the girl fell into the arms of the killer affectionately, the killer said, "I love you," and then the sound of gunfire cut through the dead night, announcing the end of the girl's beautiful life. Love is only for a brief moment.

In the end, it is also black and white, and the cost of space transformation should be far away from the urban hustle and bustle of the farm. A beautiful 19-year-old girl just had her second life saved by an elderly police officer. Their love lasted for 8 years. During these 8 years, the two were in different environments. One gradually grew up, from an 11-year-old injured little girl to a beautiful but pure 19-year-old showgirl; the girl was framed and tortured in prison. The only connection between them is the weekly letter the girl writes to the police, telling the girl's affection. Love pervades the sky above this sinful city. The flashpoint of love is the interruption of the letter. The police had a premonition that the girl was in a dangerous situation, saddled with infamy and released on parole, and the real crisis had just begun. He saved the girl from the monster, he promised the girl, you go first, I have to deal with some things. This lie ended the girl's dangerous life, and the policeman's. An old man died and a young girl survived. I love you, the cop took the gun and took his own life. 8 years of waiting, only in an instant.

Love seems to be a life, a death, no matter how short or long.

The film tells three stories, all full of blood. Alcohol, guns, lies, prostitutes, corrupt cops, everything is dominated by power and desire, and the whole world turns black and white. The story tells about Ma Fu and Godi, and suddenly, the shadow of Notre Dame de Paris flashed in front of them. The ugly Mafo and the glamorous Goddy are like the incarnations of Quasimodo and Esmeralda. Goldie's death drives Mafo's frantic vengeance, eventually killing the city's supreme power, a leader above the law and government, who was behind the murder of Goldie. The power of love pushes a man beyond his abilities. In a sinful city, people are much more terrifying than ghosts. People's souls are corroded, and the blood of people whose souls have been corroded is indifferent white. Prostitutes are the shining embellishments of the city. They are arrogant and gentle, with a strong heart hidden under their graceful figures, which many men find cowardly.

Movies are like fragments, and people need to pick them up piece by piece and organize them carefully. Thoughts are like fragments, lost their order. While the memory still has a touch of warmth, it is too late to organize it and write it down in a chaotic manner, leaving a small space for it in the mind and the journal. At least when I am lonely, there is a memory worth recalling.

Sin City quotes

  • Yellow Bastard: Do you think I'm tired? You think I'm getting tired? You're the one who's gonna crack! You'll crack! You'll cry and beg! You'll Scream! Oh, yeah, you'll scream, you big, fat, ugly cow! You'll scream!

    [leans in closer]

Yellow Bastard: You thinking the whip was the worse I could do? That was foreplay.

Nancy Callahan: Hartigan was right about you. You can't get it up unless I scream. You're pathetic! You're pathetic.

Yellow Bastard: It's not wise at all to make fun of me like that. It brings out the worst in me.

    [raises knife]

  • Shellie: I've done some dumb things.

Dwight: Seeing as how I'm one of those dumb things, I can't give you too hard a time on that, Shellie.
