The aged hobbit Bilbo Baggins wrote the adventures of his year in his own home:
120 Years In the past, the lonely mountain of Erebor in Middle-earth was the fortress of the greatest dwarf king, Thor of the Mountain. Gemstones can be carved out of the rock of Iruba, and gold flows from the crevices of the rock. Dwarves have masterful craftsmanship, crafting gems and gold into exquisite objects. Thor named the Akan gem that was excavated as the King's Gem. But unfortunately, Smaug, the fire-breathing and extremely hard dragon, defeated the dwarves and invaded Iruba. The friend of the dwarves, the forest elf king Thranduil (Lee Pace), is unwilling to risk extermination to help the dwarves fight against the dragon. King Thor tried to take back the ancient dwarven kingdom of Moria, and fought against the Orcs, the old enemy who had taken Moria first And disappeared. The grandson Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) fought with Asog and cut off one of Asog's arm. The half-orc army was repelled, but the dwarf army also survived and had to go around. Work for a living.
60 years ago, the evil dragon Smaug had been silent for many years, and the omens and prophecies of the return of the birds from the previous dynasty appeared. Thorin, the dwarf prince who carried the hatred of his family and country, hoped to take this opportunity to regain his homeland. The gray-robed wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) took out the key and the map of the Lonely Mountain that the dwarf king gave him to keep, but the invisible door of the Lonely Mountain that the key was to open could not be seen on the map. Gandalf invites Frodo's uncle, Bilbo Baggins the Hobbit (Martin John C. Freeman), to join an expedition of 13 dwarves led by Thorin because they need a Thief expert. After some deliberation, Baggins decided to join.
Gandalf's friend, Lord Elron of the Elves, deciphered the hidden code on the map, and the dwarves knew the location of the Invisible Gate of the Lonely Mountain. The brown-robed wizard Redagast discovered that the green forest was sick, darkness fell, everything stopped growing, and a big spider appeared. Radagast found traces of the dark forces - Necromancers in the old castle, and handed Gandalf the sword of the cave (which was supposed to be in the tomb of Angmar, the sorcerer king). Bilbo picks up Smeagol's lost ring, puts it on and discovers that he can be invisible and hear people's voices. Along the way, Thorin's group was attacked by mountain monsters, half-orcs, and goblins (goblinse), and they all managed to escape. Thorin was defeated in the second confrontation with the half-orc Asog, and Bilbo rescued him and finally won Thorin's trust. Gandalf used butterflies to summon a group of eagles to rescue them safely from the edge of the cliff, temporarily getting rid of the pursuit of the orcs. And in the gold pile in the castle of Iruba in the Lonely Mountain, the dragon Smaug opened his eyes.
The wolf mounts of the orcs are very ferocious, but they are useless; the goblins are even more useless. The body of the king has no fighting power at all, and he was killed by Gandalf.
Overall, it is a very ordinary adventure story, a little bland, not epic, and the special effects scenes are not very surprising.
The film is based on the book of the same name by JRR Tolkien.
