"Gravity": a weightless universe, a weightless life

In terms of viewing effect, "Gravity" has completely created a visual spectacle. The vast universe spreads out in front of every audience, leaving the insignificance of human beings nowhere to hide. The story of two astronauts in distress in space allows the audience to follow them through a trio of fear, loneliness, and despair. And the biggest threat to survival is the weightless universe or the weightless life?

Dr. Ryan Stone and Matt Kowalski are two astronauts who become the last survivors of the air station in an accident, and how to get back to Earth has become the biggest problem. They need oxygen, they need fuel, they need capsules, they need air stations. Soon after the story begins, Matt Kowalski staged a self-sacrifice, and the universe became Dr. Ryan Stone's universe. After going through untold hardships, she finally sat in a space capsule that could be activated normally, and was about to launch towards China's Tiangong Air Station, the lack of fuel in the capsule gave her another fatal blow.

She sat in the capsule, listening to the barking of dogs, crying children, and lullabies on the radio, waiting for the despair to sink into the bone marrow and the oxygen to decrease to zero. She was afraid of death from the bottom of her heart, but she didn't want to live anymore. Since life has no hope, why not choose a more comfortable way to end it? Outside the space capsule, there is a weightless universe that cannot be escaped. In the space capsule, it is a weightless life that cannot be lifted. If the weightless universe is like a vortex, it can ruthlessly sweep away an entire air station. The weightless life renews a black hole, which can swallow up every hope of living.

After completing a self-sacrifice, Matt Kowalski subconsciously completed a redemption for others. If you don't want to live anymore, then why are you looking for oxygen, for fuel, for space capsules, for air stations, why don't you stay in the dark early in the morning and wait to die. This is how life is. There are so many unexpected things that happen, and we often give up what we hold on to, just like Dr. Ryan Stone gave up hope of living. But if we persist, can we also pick the star we want and complete a legendary adventure from space to earth?

The fun of life is that life cannot be repeated, and there is no need to repeat it. Since Dr. Ryan Stone chose oxygen, fuel, capsule, and air station, there's no reason why she would choose death. She had lost a daughter once, but she chose to survive, and she could do the same this time. The disorder and weightlessness of the outer space and time bring far less difficulties than imagined, and the inner psychological abandonment and despair are the crucial determinants. Even if you are in a weightless universe, as long as you let go of your weightless life, you will definitely find your way back to where you started. Blue Grid

Gravity quotes

  • Ryan Stone: I know, we're all gonna die. Everybody knows that. But I'm going to die today. Funny that... you know, to know. But the thing is, is that I'm still scared. Really scared. Nobody will mourn for me, no one will pray for my soul. Will you mourn for me? Will you say a prayer for me? Or is it too late... ah, I mean I'd say one for myself but I've never prayed in my life. Nobody ever taught me how... nobody ever taught me how...

  • Ryan Stone: Five. Four. Three. No more just driving. Let's go home.
