A work of entertainment, a simple space-hunting film

I love space adventure movies. When I was a child, watching the popular science program on Pearl TV, the spaceship was driving alone in the silent universe, and an inexplicable sense of loneliness came to my mind. As a pessimist, if the spacecraft is manned, it will be even more worrying, for fear of accidental accidents, the key is that no one has come to rescue you. Fast death is fine. If it is slow death, it can only disappear in the universe alone, and its psychological fear is greater than physical fear.

Therefore, "Gravity" directed by Alfonso Cuaron is very popular with me. Although the length is limited and the story is simple, it fully expresses the depression of space. So Ridley Scott's "The Martian" made me even more anticipation. After all, living alone on Mars is a terrible thing.

But after watching the movie, I found that the movie is completely different from what I imagined. Instead of the oppression and thrills of "Gravity", it's the optimism and ubiquitous sense of humor throughout. So a script that was supposed to be a space adventure movie became a popcorn space safari. Of course, the author has no intention of favoring one over the other, just out of personal preference, because I always feel that thriller movies can fully reflect the characteristics of space.

Closer to home, what kind of viewing experience will a space hunter have? The first is the weakening of stimulation. Under the guidance of optimism, all the worries of the audience are dispelled by various jokes. In such an atmosphere, the audience will not worry about the fate of the protagonist, because the protagonist will definitely be rescued. So in the end, the motivation for the audience to watch is curiosity, to see how the protagonist is rescued. Although there are certain points to watch, the ending is always spoiled, so it is naturally not as exciting as the unknown plot.

Now that the ending has surfaced, the audience's curiosity alone can't last for more than 2 hours, so the movie has to create some conflict. So the failure of the rocket launch happened exactly, and then when everything seemed to be going well, the collapse of the pressure chamber happened just right. These two clashes create a little trouble for the optimism atmosphere and move the plot forward smoothly.

Yes, the big problems of plot advancement and structure have been easily solved. Lao Lei is familiar with commercial movies and has a good grasp of it. After completing the basic framework, he can freely fill in all kinds of interesting scientific elements, such as popular discussions. Most of the potato planting, signal transmission, etc. basically carried out scientific popularization of complex principles through real-life cases, which made the audience watch it with gusto. At the same time, he ridiculed NASA and the Celestial Dynasty, which made the audience overjoyed, and the popcorn sales also swiped, saying that everyone was happy.

Of course, there are audiences who are entangled in the absence of the protagonist's relatives, but this is a comedy, what is the use of sad tears? Some viewers wonder why not to engage in conspiracy theories to enhance the depth of the movie, but this is a commercial comedy. Can the depth ensure the box office? Some audiences are entangled in various bugs, but this is a movie, why don't you read books and do research... Yes, this is a commercial entertainment movie, why do you need to explain so much? Leave a cute and lonely back on Mars. The emotion of that scene is completely enough. Hello, Lei.

This film beat all the people who yelled "We want a new story" in the face. More than two hundred years ago, Robinson Crusoe was as wonderful as it was shot in space, love me, please live a hundred years

The Martian quotes

  • Vincent Kapoor: [Reading and citing from the panels that Mark put in front of the camera of the Pathfinder Mars robot] "'Are you receiving me? Yes - no.'

    [to Tim]

Vincent Kapoor: OK, point the camera at 'yes'."

Tim Grimes: 32-minute round trip communications time, all he can do is yes/no questions and all we can do is point the camera. This won't exactly be an Algonquin round table of snappy repartee.

  • Melissa Lewis: [from deleted scene] Where have you been sleeping?

    Rick Martinez: In airlock 2.

    Beth JohanssenChris BeckAlex Vogel: WHAT!

Rick Martinez: It's the only place where I can sleep without anyone tripping me, so.

Alex Vogel: Do you understand how dangerous that is? If one seal breaks you die.

Melissa Lewis: From now on you'll sleep in Beck's room.

Chris Beck: Where am I going to sleep?

    Melissa Lewis: With Johanssen.

    Chris Beck: Um, uh.

    [chuckles]

    Chris Beck: [Johanssen looks surprised]

Melissa Lewis: Knock it off Beck. It's a small ship I know everything.

    Beth Johanssen: Are you mad?

Melissa Lewis: If this was a normal mission you'd be breaking about thirty rules. But this isn't a normal mission.

Rick Martinez: And a few world records too.. WHAT'S UP!

    [Shakes Beck's and Johanssen's hands]

Rick Martinez: Your gonna leave me hanging? You're going to leave me hanging? Getting down in space?
