Make mistakes early

At the end of the film, the male protagonist can make the best use of everything and make the best of his talents, and enjoy the $100,000 a year that his special talents bring. In that era, a lot.

The male protagonist is like this in reality, marrying a wife and having children, and living an extraordinary and happy life. What I felt after watching it was actually Eileen Chang's sentence: "Be famous as soon as possible." Another version of "make mistakes as soon as possible".

The male protagonist embarked on the road of crime at the age of sixteen, and was arrested a year and a half later. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and he was only 30 years old when he was full. Life can start all over again, and the intelligence, energy, and physical strength are just right.

Just imagine, if the male protagonist made a mistake at the age of 30, when he was arrested and served his sentence, half a hundred people would come out. If you think about it again, it will be difficult, most of it is like the old man in "The Shawshank Redemption" who is out of prison but can't adapt to the society. It is impossible to imagine a happy ending like the original film, or even an autobiography called "Catch Me If You Can".

I read an article on Shenzhen Airlines that introduced the real story of the movie. After meeting again, I watched the movie again, and found that the director has faithfully reproduced the story, and slightly sorted out the overlapping parts of the movie and reality.

1. The parents are divorced, and the male protagonist chooses to be with his father. The difference is that in reality, the male protagonist has several brothers and sisters, and only he chooses to be with his father, which makes his father very moved and loves him even more.

2. The father is bankrupt. As in reality, the male protagonist's first check was given by his father, which also gave him a lot of inspiration.

3. He did pretend to be a pilot, a paediatrician and a lawyer, just like in the movie. He took a little time to get his lawyer's qualification certificate. And the reason why he doesn't want to play the role of a pilot and a pediatrician is very simple. He once experienced that because the pilot had an accident, the cockpit was handed over to him, and the lives of a plane (including himself) were in his hands. Another time, a young boy in shock lay in front of him and needed his expertise to save his life.

He didn't want to make fun of his own life or anyone else's life, so it took him two weeks to get his lawyer's license!

4. In the movie, the male protagonist who really wanted to get married was betrayed by his lover. In reality, the male protagonist really had an experience of telling his lover and the whole thing. An hour later, the police came to the door.

5. The male protagonist's Bole in the movie is his nemesis policeman. In reality, the policeman who arrested him discovered his extraordinary talent and recruited him to serve the police, so that he could make a difference in another vast world.

6. He actually wrote a book, and the title of the book is the title of the movie.

Catch Me If You Can quotes

  • Frank Abagnale, Jr.: [donning a James Bond style suit and mimicking Sean Connery in the mirror] Hello, Pussy.

  • Assistant Director Marsh: [Carl and Mr. Marsh are visiting Frank in prison; Carl hopes to convince the FBI to let Frank out of prison] I'd like for you to take a look at something, tell me what you think.

Frank Abagnale, Jr.: [Marsh hands Frank a fake check as Carl looks on] It's a fake.

Assistant Director Marsh: How do you know? You haven't looked at it.

Frank Abagnale, Jr.: There's no perforated edge, right? This check was hand-cut, not fed. The paper's double-bonded, much too heavy to be a bank check. Magnetic ink, it's raised against my fingers, not flat. This doesn't smell like MICR, it's some kind of, uh, some kind of drafting ink. The kind you get at a stationery store.

Assistant Director Marsh: Frank, would you be interested in working for the FBI's Financial Crimes Unit?

Frank Abagnale, Jr.: I've already got a job here, you know. I, uh, deliver the mail.

Assistant Director Marsh: Frank, we have the power to take you out of prison. You'd be placed in the custody of the FBI where you'd serve out the remainder of your sentence as an employee of the Federal Government.

Frank Abagnale, Jr.: Under whose custody?

    [Carl raises his hand]
