"History is written by those who kill heroes."

Historicists are always contradictory. A person's trust in history depends on his dialectic of the writer and his obsession with the story. Pure history is sometimes hypocritical and confusing, because history is always accompanied by heroic stories, but Not all written heroes are great, and everyone has their own tendencies towards heroism.

William Wallace may have some typical American heroism, but I tend to think that he is an awakener. The victors of history are not necessarily heroes, but the awakeners must have heroic colors.

To quote Mr. Lu Xun, this is a man who advocates tearing down the roof. Wallace's last "freedom" overwhelms everyone's "mercy", and under the dark rule of England, he prys open a window, allowing the dawn to shine through. into the oppressed land of Scotland.

"Be free or die"

The growth of a hero must go through multiple stages of awakening. Wallace's awakening should be divided into four stages.

The first stage is when he was frightened by the hanged at a young age, and then suffered the death blows of his father and brother. This planted the seeds of rebellion and hatred in his heart, and it was also the epitome of the Scots hatred for the ruler of England.

The second stage is to return to the village as an adult. Time seems to have smoothed out his hatred and made him a young man who yearns for peace. He only hopes to form an ordinary peasant family with his beloved woman, work in agriculture and teach his children, and live a dull life. .

But the tyranny of England disillusioned him, and the death of his wife made him understand that his tragedy was not accidental. If he did not rise up, the pressure of tyranny would fall on every Scotsman. At this moment, the hatred in his heart Being ignited, the fighting spirit to fight for freedom began to rise.

The first two stages are a common awakening. He happened to every Scotsman, and it was the reason why Wallace's uprising was so popular.

But even if he is brave and diligent, he still can't ignore his identity - a civilian.

Therefore, he is weak, has no supplies, and has no logistics. He can only go forward, seek allies, and grant titles.

This determines that he is an insurgent, a pioneer, an awakener, but not a ruler. In every battle, he takes the lead and stands on the front line of the charge. He can become a general, but he cannot become a ruler. , unable to twist the power of Scotland into a single rope against the large armies of England.

At this time, he felt the sense of resistance in the real leader of Scotland, the 17th Earl Robert Bruce, and also understood that only Bruce had the power to awaken Scotland.

After his alliance with Bruce, he experienced his third awakening - a betrayal, a betrayal from the ruling class.

This made him feel desperate, and his eyes were filled with tears, and he began to question his long-term efforts: even the king of Scotland gave up his resistance, his power, and the dignity of freedom as a king, then all his struggles can still get What support, what's the point?

At the same time, he felt the cowardice, decadence, selfishness, and narrow-mindedness of the Scottish aristocracy, and began to understand that the real revolution was not just about raising a spear to fight against the external iron cavalry, but also needing a heavy hammer to sound the alarm bell and awaken the consciousness of the people.

So he single-handedly broke into the siege, raised his great hammer, smashed the heads of the traitors, and tried to break the rotten Scottish aristocracy.

At this point, he has transformed from an ordinary uprising hero into a scythe that is feared both internally and externally. His existence not only troubled England, but even the rulers of Scotland were terrified, and Robert Bruce began to analyze it. Self, the sense of resistance is getting stronger and stronger.

On his deathbed, Wallace went through his final stages of awakening and truly realized his mission: he was an awakener whose very existence, and even his death, should awaken the desire for freedom in all Scottish people, and awaken them to struggle The Heart of the Brave of Tyranny.

So, he refused to be euthanized, preferring to be tortured, shouting with all his might: "Freedom."

Life is never short of good stories, but there is a shortage of people who render stories into works of art. The reason why "Braveheart" has become a classic is that the camera, background, history, music, characters, etc. are all indispensable.

It integrates many elements of historical stories: personal growth, strategic conspiracy, long-term heroes, political deception, conspiracy, persecution and revenge, etc. The process of watching the movie will flash many historical characters.

If you only start from the theme of war stories, there are many more heroic characters in Chinese historical stories, but there is a lack of excellent screenwriters and directors to move them to the big screen.

ps: I really hope that "Three Kingdoms is the most romantic" will continue to be updated. It is really my favorite among the alternate historical works.
