Two touches of the movie

There are two things about this movie that touched me. The first is naturally the general theme of the movie, freedom. In fact, I don't think the male protagonist has any unique power, but as mentioned in the movie, I can lead the Scots to freedom. It is the desire of each person that gives the protagonist a unique appeal, and rallies the entire Scottish people to rise up, for freedom, for tomorrow, and for a happy life. The second point that may have been overlooked, but impressed me, is the reaction of the protagonist Wallace when his beloved is brutally murdered (here is really heart-wrenching), as the movie shows, he does not He didn't show his bravery, he didn't lose his mind, and he didn't go to die in vain. He hid his sword behind his back, united tribes, smashed iron horses with spears, detoured tactics, and attacked the enemy from front and back... This is the sharpest weapon, the most frightening power, and Not to die in vain, thinking of the beautiful dream of living forever. Although the ending of the movie is tragic, as said in "Dream Travel", when a person really dies, when everyone forgets him, Wallace is harmed by a conspiracy, but his spirit will live on forever. The hearts of every Scotsman will surely become the sharpest edge, pierce the darkness and bring the brightest sunshine of freedom to the Scots!

It's really an epic film's soundtrack, scenes, and sensationalism.

Mel Gibson directed and acted and won many Oscars. This film completely failed from a historical point of view, but it is definitely a classic from an epic point of view. The collection of elements of heroic films such as childhood misery, love, revenge, war, betrayal, torture, etc., coupled with the climax of the plot and the melodious Scottish bagpipes, makes people shed tears even if they know that the plot does not match the historical facts. Braveheart quotes

  • Hamish: There's somebody coming.

Campbell: MacGregors from the next clan.

MacGregor: We heard about what was happenin' and don't want you "Amadans" thinkin' you can have your fun without us.

William Wallace: Go home. Some of us are in this; can't help that, now. But you can help yourselves. Go home.

MacGregor: We'll have no homes left when the English garrison from the castle comes through and burns us out. And they will!

[Wallace motions for the MacGregors to join them]

  • Robert the Bruce: I'm not a coward. I want what you want, but we need the nobles.

    William Wallace: We need them?

    Robert the Bruce: Aye.

    William Wallace: Nobles.

    [laughs a little]

William Wallace: Now tell me, what does that mean to be noble? Your title gives you claim to the throne of our country, but men don't follow titles, they follow courage. Now our people know you. Noble, and common, they respect you. And if you would just lead them to freedom, they'd follow you. And so would I
