Lyon is a professional hitman from Italy, who "acts" neatly and never misses. For many years he lived a celibate life in this peaceful little city, drinking milk in a carton and going to the cinema to see old movies. He also has a well-kept green potted plant and a toolbox full of firearms. Matilda is a little girl of thirteen or fourteen years old, and Leon is a neighbor of the same apartment building. She had a family but was never happy. She was angry and beaten all day, so she learned to smoke and skip classes at a young age. She liked to sit in front of the guardrail on the floor, dangling her feet gently to avoid injury, and to avoid doing nothing. Fate has brought these two people together: the law enforcement officer of the anti-drug team - a fanatical admirer and paranoid of Beethoven - brutally bloodbath the Matilda family during a drug investigation, the little girl She survived by buying milk in the street, but the kind killer opened the door to protect her at a critical moment. Matilda hates the murderer for killing her dearest little brother, so she asks Lyon to teach her how to kill and prepare for revenge in the future...
"This Killer Is Not Too Cold", this is a story told by French director Lu Besson in 1994 , in the hot midnight of a summer a few years later, it deeply moved me sitting alone in front of the DVD player. However, I was not moved because of its story. The outdated and clichéd plot is a major failure of this film. But it is because of this failure that I can focus more on the expressiveness and connotation of the film. The director uses the music throughout, the changing light, and the romantic humor unique to the French to create a lonely, empty but not desperate inner world for us.
Smooth motion shots, muted colors and calm strings introduce us to the work and life of Killer Lyon at the beginning of the film, everything is so methodical and unpredictable. Lyon has almost no language, guns are his language, fresh milk is his language, potted plants enjoying the sun on time are his language, old movies are his language, at night, put on sunglasses and turn off the lamp and fall asleep on the sofa It was his language, and he used silence to communicate and coexist with this society that did not belong to him until he met Matilda. The little girl met him in the hallway of the apartment. The first time she begged him not to tell him about secretly smoking, the second time he wiped away the scars after being beaten by her father, and the third time it was at his door. Before, her face full of fear and sadness looked forward to his open light. Since then, the two originally lonely and boring hearts can finally warm and comfort each other. Only then did we know that behind the silence of the killer lies a bitter past, and the pain of the past made him lose his sensitivity and enthusiasm for life, and the addition of Matilda made him reveal the rare sight that he only appeared when watching nostalgic movies before. Some smiles, although dull and unnatural, seem so kind and lovely.
However, the city will not change because of your changes, life is still depressing and hard, and the unfreedom and tragedy of life are everywhere. When we all hope the film has a good ending, it seems that a destructive force that has been suppressed for a long time has erupted. After a life-and-death struggle, Leon successfully rescued Matilda again, and at the same time escaped the dense line of fire and the heavy siege by relying on superhuman courage and wit. When the dazzling but soft light at the exit of the underground passage suddenly turned into a wobbly pitch black when it was already within reach, my heart was grabbed by something painfully, and the air that night seemed to be filled with solidified. On the film’s poster, Leon’s stubble-covered chin is prominently positioned against the two distorted tall buildings that symbolize civilization, reflected in the dark lenses. Only then did I know what loneliness is eternal and eternal loneliness in a modern society. Perhaps this is the place where the film is more worthy of my touch. People who have free time will not like such films, because there is no intense plot and gorgeous action; petty bourgeoisie will not like it, because it is far from the level of sensationalism they want; people who pursue independence and alternative also do not like it, because It's too commercial. But as Sting sings in the end credits: That`s not the shape of my heart. Maybe it's the lonely color that I like.
Thanks to the actors: Jean Reno, his dull look, his sharp eyes and Gary Oldman, his exaggerated body language, nervous expressions are the motivation for me to watch this film again and again, and Na Tali Bertman, with her tearful, anguished face at the exhaust fan's vent, is something I'll never forget, only to never see it again in Star Wars.
