A little bit about "Avatar": people need a little awe

Seeing the rumors today, the truth is unhappy with "Avatar", whether it is because the box office is too high to cause dissatisfaction, or the so-called insinuation of forced demolition (of course, this can be used as an example of prostitution), a foreign thing has caused too much damage in the country. Big influences are "horrible" and "shameful" (including a certain truth).

Let's go back to civilian viewing. The epoch-making audio-visual effects of "Avatar" and the rich imagination of Pandora show that Cameron's pure heart is still there. The same director has Jackson of the "Lord of the Rings." trilogy. In general, the starting point of watching this movie is to go for this. Movies, after all, are first and foremost technical work, and whether technical work is good or not depends on the brain of technology. Both are fine, that's not a cure. I often imagine the result of their imagination to film "The Classic of Mountains and Seas", but I don't think I hope to see it in this life.

Regarding the "ideological" of the storyline, some are associated with Indians or colonialism, while for the Chinese Dynasty, it is naturally associated with the anti-demolition of nail households. Of course, environmentalists think of the Copenhagen Conference. All kinds of associations are justified, and no kind of associations can be everything. This is the quality that a work should have. There are also clichéd stories. I thought about it, and the story is nothing more than three endings: Pandora is conquered; Pandora wins; Peace. The first is tragedy, the second is to promote universal values, and the third is Zhang Yimou's "Hero". Which do you think is more conventional?

Any story will be cliché, the real flesh and blood of the movie is in the details.

As for the implication of the film, my personal interpretation is as follows:

In our world, which relies on material existence, the development of "rationality" and technology has made people who are full of material desires inflated blindly, thinking that they are the center of the world and can take whatever they want from the world. As shown in the movie, the earth is barren, what are you afraid of, change the planet and go to Pandora to mine. Those who believe in a certain truth should know the meaning of the word "alienation". To say that they do not know is to forget their roots. The place to live - the desolation of the earth represents this kind of forgetfulness, and they think this is the truth. In addition to the Na'vi people on the planet Pandora, all other "unknown" creatures also participated in the fight in the end, which is not really like the myth that people think - they are called by the "Mother". The heroine said a sentence that revealed the secret: "The Virgin is neutral and does not favor any side. Her task is to maintain ecological balance." All kinds of creatures spontaneously enter the battle, which is the answer of this world to the threat of survival. From this angle, the film reflects Cameron's religious feelings - awe.

The Na'vi people, who understand the insignificance of human beings, truly understand the interdependence between human beings and the world, and it is the heart of awe that maintains the relationship between them. Reverence is also a kind of self-discipline of high wisdom. The "earth people" who destroyed the earth's living environment also destroyed themselves - the planet Pandora is actually the predecessor of the earth. Therefore, the story is not simply the meaning of using violence to overcome violence and defeat the strong by the weak. Some people commented that the barbarians defeated the civilized people. This sentence should be said in reverse. For the civilized barbarians who lack awe, do you think that you are not destroying your own world?

Therefore, the male protagonist's earth identity is a disabled person. If he becomes a Pandora, he is healthy, but he is only physically healthy, and there is a risk of being switched back at any time. From this point, I guessed that in the end, he will implement the soul-moving method and successfully merge. Because he has learned to fear, he is truly free.

Avatar quotes

  • Jake Sully: [collector's extended cut] You want a fair deal? You're on the wrong planet. The strong prey on the weak, it's just the way things are. And nobody does a damned thing.

  • Corporal Lyle Wainfleet: [seeing Jake in a wheelchair] Aww, man, that is just wrong.
