The old director's film made me sleepy a few times, perhaps because the plot was completely rewritten. Thinking about it carefully, although I have always favored European and American films over Hong Kong films, I can look at these two films. Old Martin's film can only be regarded as a more reasonable and more realistic ordinary police and gangster film, and the original Infernal Affairs is surrounded by a romantic temperament from beginning to end. No matter from Cai Qin's music, the performance of the psychiatrist played by Chen Huilin, or the setting of the final ending, the original Infernal Affairs has always hidden a quiet inner voice in the tense plot advancement. Yep, a cop movie with romance shrouded in it, so I prefer the original.
In terms of ordinary police and gangster films, this film is far from the classic "Theft of Fire".
