To be honest, when Hanks' squad faced the sunset and hit a row of silhouettes, they really didn't understand war. For the ideal of the country? maybe, but a solider is saying prayers and kissing the cross while aiming his gun at another solider? As an ordinary person who grew up in a peaceful age, this logic is really hard to see.
World peace may really not be just a dream, because the image of the soldier picking up his arms in the sea and continuing to move forward is so cruel that no one can forget it.
