a little impression

It may be the movie that took me the longest to finish watching. I watched the first half of it when I was in junior high school, and the second half was spoiled all the time. Now I have finally watched it from beginning to end. If I really want to extract a central idea from this type of film, I think the focus is not on the gimmicks of this religion, nor the weightiness of these endings, but two dialogues, one is the old detective and the young detective in the bar. The dialogue about the meaning of the investigation is a dialogue between the little police detective and the murderer about why they committed the crime before the ending. An important commonality of the two dialogues is the alienation of people in this crime city. The old detective and the young detective are different periods of the same person. They are all kind and upright, and the old police detective is distressed by the indifference and chaos of the whole city, and tries to numb himself, trying to convince himself why he chooses to flee, which is a typical manifestation of the alienation of the environment to people. But he couldn't deny his empathy, he couldn't deny his envy of the little police detective's passionate impulse, and the justice that had not been assimilated by the city. The murderer and the old detective are, to a certain extent, two sides of the same coin. They are both well-educated, dissatisfied with the filth and sin of the whole city, and even envious of the happy life of the young detective. But the unsympathetic murderer went to the other extreme, trying to change the environment with the idea of violence, which is also a hidden manifestation of environmental alienation. Apart from the protagonist, the alienation of the environment to people is everywhere, whether it is the landlord who is almost dead and unaware of the tenant, the shopkeeper who makes perverted props, and the underground operator who is unaware of the coming and going of the murderer. , or the rotten police station and investigation bureau inside. These factors combine to make up the seven horrific murders and push the entire story to that inescapable end, where even the six-day rain is a complaint of the city's icy coldness. In fact, there is a ray of light at the end. After experiencing a nightmarish ending, the old detective who was insensitive at the beginning was moved by the little detective and decided to stay in this sin city. Perhaps the alienation of people from the environment is inevitable, but he agreed with the little police detective that there are always some changes worth fighting for.
