Old-school humanistic romance wrapped in sci-fi skin

Nolan is actually a very old-fashioned romantic. After watching this film, I was not reminded of avant-garde science fiction, but of older novels, from Balzac to Hugo to Hemingway. The feeling of those classic novelists who understand human nature but still care.

This interpretation also makes sense. He was born in the literature department and loves to explore the complex narrative structure in contemporary detective novels, but he will inevitably be influenced by classic novels, so there is still a big reunion, and love is still the most amazing and the most salvation. The power of everything.

A good work is one where different people see different things. Those who watch science fiction see science fiction, those who watch emotions see emotions, and those who watch pursuit see pursuit. As for me, I am very vulgar. As a romantic, I see romance.

I don't watch too much science fiction. The three major science fiction writers, Asimov, Heinlein, and Clark, have only watched a few classics. Asimov is very good, Clark's imagination is ahead of time but he is too calm and pessimistic. Relatively speaking, he personally prefers Heinlein. Although he is rhetorical and the main theme, his innocence and enthusiasm, especially his ardent love for human beings , the fervent love of human progress really struck me. Therefore, people who like Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey will think that this film is too commercial, not sci-fi enough, and too much literary drama, but Kubrick and Clark are cold and penetrating, but I have always felt separated. On the contrary, the humanistic feelings of this film are positive. Stuck in the heart.

Human beings are like this. They are stupid, selfish, conceited, and insignificant. They can only see in front of their eyes. They are involved in their own desires. They can never be rational, and they can never understand each other. Can't remember. But even such human beings have great things, they can live not just to survive, not just to reproduce, life is cruel and not completely materialized, they are still amazed when they see beautiful things, and they will do things beyond themselves for love . Incurably stupid and hopelessly worthy of redemption. There is nothing better than sci-fi to express the complexity of this species. The edge of perdition is the most meticulous and moving look at human nature. Is it survival instinct and reason that can perpetuate the race? Like Dr. Mann, Dr. Brand? Or more human love and courage?

The question itself is unsolvable. Sci-fi provides just a scenario, and it's impossible to guess what will actually happen. We always believe what we want to believe. Human evolution has a long way to go, and no one can say where complexity and diversity will lead us.

Nolan believes in love, courage and hope. I can't help but want to say that Little Red Riding Hood is just right. What an old proposition, just wrapped in a cool shell. But I think this is very good, very good, the old-fashioned romance is simply amazing, and the love that travels through time and space is so good that you cry, especially this is not love, but a broader love. It's so romantic. Technology is great, science fiction is even better, and the best thing is that there is still hope for such a bad human being, that love can make people better. Just so positive.

Commercial? Business is not good. But it is very touching, because the great love and courage are very touching. It's especially good that people can look at the starry sky after a meal and feel their insignificance, and at the same time feel that although human beings are so bad, they can still be saved a little bit.

To a certain extent I think this film has a temperament like Heinlein. Heinlein also likes to write about time. When I saw the Lazarus project, I thought of "Son of Sasmara", not to mention his lengthy "Time Is Enough for Your Love".

But when it comes to weaknesses, it's not without them. What do some characters do? In addition to Matthew, who is full of acting skills, the character image is also a bit vague. What is the focus of Hathaway's character? The protagonist's foil. Murphy's brother suddenly forgave her, especially the bug there, the conflict between the two lines on the earth is not enough, and so on. Probably because the background is too broad, there are too many things to express, and there is no room for Inception to create a good character.
