There are some good things in this world that are worth fighting for

The early autumn in Harbin has no aftertaste of summer. Although it is still early before the frost hits, the hazy sky, the yellowing leaves, and the chill all remind me that it is another season of reincarnation... Maybe it is the sudden drop in temperature. , the old problem of the lumbar disc has been committed again, not sitting or lying down. Had to divert attention with movies and books.

I finally finished watching Lord of the Rings 123 in the past few days. Maybe every writer is a creator, some create a group of characters, some create a country, but Tolkien clearly created a world. Haven't seen his "Silmarillion" yet, I have been attracted by this Middle-earth world, which is symbiotic by humans, elves, hobbits, dwarves, treemen, orcs, etc.

I remember that in 2001, when the first book was just released, I bought this book, and I was amazed by the fantastic and magnificent scenes and shocking plots depicted in Tolkien's works. Today, 20 years later, when I revisit this movie again, it brings me this kind of thinking: What exactly is a hero? Ordinary as we can also be our own hero?

Today, when personal consumerism is prevalent, the popular aesthetic of "heroes are dead" has made classical heroism fade from the screen stage. But this movie seems to have brought back our lost heroic ideals.

1. What is a hero

1. Those who have strong expectations for themselves and practice them with perseverance are heroes.

At first Frodo was skeptical about his ability to take on this important task, but when he realized the disaster the Lord of the Rings had brought to his hometown of the Shire, he said: "If I can save the Shire, I will go What I did... I feel that as long as the Shire country is peaceful and safe behind me, I will not hesitate to drift away all year round. I know that I will have a place where the fallen leaves will return to their roots, even if my feet can no longer set foot on this land!"

The weak and the strong also have expectations for themselves. What kind of person you want to be and what kind of life you want may have nothing to do with your abilities, or even your virtues, just because it's something you feel you have to do.

Eager to protect his homeland, eager to have a vigorous adventure, this strong self-expectation destined Frodo and his companions to have an extraordinary life journey.

In this extraordinary life journey, the weakness of human nature is always insurmountable. When I saw the weak Frodo endure the erosion of his mind by the Lord of the Rings, while crawling towards Mount Doom with his hands and feet, I was moved.

The kind of person who still chooses to fulfill his promise in the face of adversity is not born with a noble soul. It is that in his repeated struggles with fate, he did not choose to "shake hands and make peace", but chose to move forward bravely. Step by step into a real hero.

2. Those who have unswerving loyalty and indestructible loyalty to their friends are heroes.

In the second part, after leaving the Meadow of Parsgarland, Frodo decided to take a boat to Mount Doom alone in order to prevent his companions from being burdened by the Lord of the Rings. Sam, who could not swim, chased after him in the water for a long time... In order to protect his master How could he let Frodo go alone. Sam followed until his death, fulfilling his original promise. The fearlessness, loyalty and responsibility of the two have overcome the timidity of the road ahead, and their loyalty, trust and encouragement to each other are the powerful forces that support them to complete their mission.

I remember this conversation between Frodo and Sam, and it left a deep impression on me. That was the conversation when they were caught by Faramir, in the city of Gondor, when Frodo had just gotten rid of the Nazgul and his confidence was damaged,

Frodo said: I can't do it.

Sam said: "I know it's not fair. We shouldn't have come, but here we are. It's like the wonderful stories we've heard, celebrating great deeds, full of darkness and danger. Sometimes you don't want to know the ending. Because how can there be a happy ending? With so many terrible things happening, how can the world go back to how it was before? But in the end, the terrible shadow will eventually disappear. Even the darkness will disappear. A new day will come. The sun also shines brighter. This is a touching story that will never be forgotten. Even if you're too young to understand why, I think I get it. I get it now. The protagonists of these stories have plenty of opportunities to fall by the wayside, but they don't. They decided to go forward because they had a belief.

Frodo asked: What beliefs do we hold?

Sam said: There are some good things in this world that are worth fighting to the end.

These words, as if a light in the darkness shone ahead, gave Frodo the courage to embark on the boundless journey again.

Not only Sam, but also Merry and Pippin, knowing the dangers of the trip, were determined to join in and show bravery in the various battles against the forces of darkness. They are the little stars among all living beings, and they are also the unsung heroes in this era. When bad luck is looming, it is because of the little people who have the courage to stand up to do their best, that the light that cuts through the night is also made. This era can continue to write a splendid legend.

3. Those who fight to the last moment of their lives for the indestructible belief in their hearts are heroes.

When I saw Boromo's confession to Aragorn before his death, we finally understood why he was always bewitched by the Lord of the Rings in the squad. Because the burden on him is too heavy. He hoped to restore the glory of Gondor, he hoped to live up to his father's expectations for him, he hoped that the people of Gondor could regain the confidence of the past, and he hoped that he could be buried in the White Tower after his death.

He is proud and suspicious, but also kind and great. He was the first to ride into the city at Rivendell, he was the one who faithfully carried out orders after Gandalf's death, he was the one who taught Pippin and Merry the swordsmanship, and he was the one who died to protect them both.

It was such a person who, when he was dying, still held the horn of Gondor and repented to Aragorn. Aragorn looked at him and said: You fought to the end, you maintained your glory, and you are worthy of respect.

Will you cry when you see this? I can.

Boromo gave his life for the Middle-earth in his mind. His dignity was taken back by himself. How tragic and how great is this?

In this world, not only those who win in real confrontation are worthy of being called heroes, but also those who strive to pursue certain spiritual beliefs. Even if they fail, they should be worthy of the word "hero". The sense of strength they show in their struggle against fate is itself a kind of spiritual wealth.

This era calls for "failed" heroes who dare to do what others want to do but dare not. Who wouldn't want to keep the original intention and fight for honor? But that comes at a price, probably a comfortable life, or a precious life, and most people retreat. However, there are always some people who are willing to put aside their successes and failures, or choose to become a tragic existence in this crowd for the sake of their previous vows, their ideals, or for a better era.

Isn't that enough to bring tears to your eyes?

Suddenly understand that the original "hero" represents a spirit. Then I think of Sisyphus, who was punished by the gods in Greek mythology. He was asked to push a boulder to the top of the mountain, but every time he reached the top, the boulder rolled down again and again, so he could only keep repeating this seemingly pointless effort. The gods thought there was nothing like this despair. more severe punishment. But as for Sisyphus, his happiness is that his destiny belongs to him, and the highest piety is to deny the punishment of the gods and remove the boulders, so he climbs to the top of the mountain again and again. Yes, as Camus said, the struggle itself is enough to make one feel fulfilled inside.

2. What about you - can you be your own hero when you feel powerless against everything around you?

Whether you admit it or not, behind everyone's situation is actually a social change. That's right, a speck of ashes from the times, falling on an individual's head is a mountain.

Can you move this mountain away? Probably not.

In addition to complaining about the obstacles of the environment, how to survive the tide of the times has become something we have to think about. After all, the tension between "social expectations" and "personal pursuits" has never been unique to any era.

To be your own hero, there are many methodologies, but there is only one world view, that is:

Stick to your inner thoughts and do what you think is right, even if it backfires in the end. Don't hesitate, don't be afraid, don't forget your original intention, move forward bravely, and fight until the last moment, you are worth it. (Huh? Why are you suddenly excited? Stop, close?)

I promised to write a good review, but it ended up being a lot of long-winded. I want to say a lot, but it seems that the moment I resort to words, the expression has been lost. I always think that the resonance and flow of emotions are always more effective than words and words.

However, that kind of communication is too extravagant.

I'm already very fortunate to have such a movie to accompany it in this day and age. I cherish it even more. In this era, I have seen people who are not caught up in the torrent: he understands what he insists on, and he expresses his love with reason and restraint... Although he has not been able to get the happiness he deserves, so what? It's still him.

He's also the "hero" of this era, as far as I'm concerned.

Finally, I lament the greatness of Tolkien and the director. After 20 years, this film can still move us and think. Prove once again that only emotions and thoughts can travel through time and space!

The first "sofa" is for someone, Ann.

  • Pippin: [singing to Denethor as Faramir leads the charge] Home is behind, the world ahead... and there are many paths to tread... Through shadow... To the edge of night... Until the stars are all alight... Mist and shadow, cloud and shade... All shall fade... all... shall... fade.

  • Denethor: My sons are spent. My line has ended. Rohan has deserted us. Theoden's betrayed me. Abandon your posts! Flee, flee for your lives!

[He turns around, and Gandalf knocks him out with his staff]
