An athlete's humble opinion of certain deformed sports.

A righteous post-mortem doctor in "Concussion Effect" pointed out the connection between rugby and cte disease. Before that, I didn’t understand rugby. I only knew that it was very exciting and accompanied by violence. The head-to-head impact will always bring the original surging in the bones of the audience. Every athlete who has engaged in sports knows more or less the negative health effects that this sport will bring. It's like knowing before becoming a soldier that you might face gunshots, lose your family, and sacrifice. But the rugby player only knows that he might break his arm and leg, but he doesn't know that he may lose consciousness and become an uncontrolled violent with his life, and even end his life like a drug addict.

When I was a child, I practiced table tennis in a sports school. I am considered a enthusiast who knows something about a professional athlete's lifelong sports career, even though the coach said that this sport can exercise cardiopulmonary function, is good for eyesight, and so on. But he didn't tell me that there are many occupational diseases that have been imprinted on the body of many athletes, such as permanent meniscus strain, elbow water caused by a lot of practice serving, and so on. Table tennis is still a less dangerous sport, but I have always been suspicious of boxing and weightlifting (important lifting exercises from an early age, inhibiting the growth of height, and being forced to eat some so-called hormonal nutrients). A rule, the more exciting the exercise, the greater the risk. Like what is the most touching sport? The underground boxing signed in the iron cage is like life and death, and you will either win or die. And the audience? Do they care about injuries to athletes? These injuries are not just visible skin injuries, but the most terrifying ones are the injuries of consciousness and brain. The permanent ones. Some athletes choose to commit suicide because of struggling with domestic violence and self-harm in order to end the impunity. I am most sad when I think of the harm I have caused to the people around me. The hard work of the athletes and the improvement of these qualities have to be used to end my own life. The audience's bets, the audience's shouts, knocking him to death, and killing him are no different from the nobles sitting outside the Colosseum in Ancient Rome. They just approve a "sportsman" civilized coat.

I don't understand the significance of these sports. In other words, will you let your children engage in them? At least, parents should have the right to know all the negative effects of these sports before choosing. I believe these histories will give the answer. Mankind is becoming more and more civilized and more civilized, just like a few years ago we would show off Thailand’s pride in riding an elephant until now the media are calling for a boycott of this behavior.

Concussion quotes

  • Dr. Bennet Omalu: By my calculations, Mike Webster has sustained more than 70,000 blows to his head.

  • Rep. Linda Sanchez: It sort of reminds me of the tobacco companies, pre-'90s, when they kept saying, "No, there's no link between smoking and damage to your health or ill health effects." And they were forced to admit that that was incorrect, through a spate of litigation in the 1990s.
