The so-called epic: expressing such a grand and gigantic system with film technology at the turn of the century is another breakthrough in film technology itself. The focus of the film is not limited to the construction of grand scenes, each grand scene can be zoomed back to small scenes, allowing you to see the careful arrangement of the film, and each conflicting paragraph can highlight the psychological contradiction between the characters, allowing you to Feel the delicate emotions of characters. An epic system is not a grand scene, and behind every grand scene is a meticulous construction. It's not empty, you can magnify it, you can feel it. Compared with the epics of the same period, the length of the complicated drama and the film once again expelled it from the ranks of popcorn movies, so that you can't enter it in a fast-food style. And many seemingly lengthy dialogues endow each character with inner fullness. Power is embodied, it is the Lord of the Rings, it is a demon, kindness is embodied, it is a journey, it is a belief. And the many themes covered in the film are about ancient Western history, about nature and industrialization, about desire and rights, about faith and friendship, or just love. Each narrative line loads and juxtaposes all of the above themes at the same time, in wars with nations (let's call them nations) and conflicts with people. Sam: "You don't want to go where I can't go with you." About a past, about a story, I'm glad it was re-screened today, I was able to watch the movie in theaters, I'm glad it's been postponed to the first time today, and it's even more joyful. This is yet another gift from the turn-of-the-century cinema, I open it today, I drink it today.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King quotes

  • Pippin: [singing to Denethor as Faramir leads the charge] Home is behind, the world ahead... and there are many paths to tread... Through shadow... To the edge of night... Until the stars are all alight... Mist and shadow, cloud and shade... All shall fade... all... shall... fade.

  • Denethor: My sons are spent. My line has ended. Rohan has deserted us. Theoden's betrayed me. Abandon your posts! Flee, flee for your lives!

[He turns around, and Gandalf knocks him out with his staff]

    Gandalf: Prepare for battle!
