A story of struggle?

The film I saw a long time ago, the impressive fragment is the beginning, a feather fluttering in the wind, flying around, and finally falling into the protagonist's hand (yes, it's the hand). I have always remembered this beginning, but I couldn't analyze what kind of feelings it caused. The memory is so deep.
The content of the story, in fact, I should not understand too much, to put it more clearly, I can only see what the story presents on the surface, but what I want to express inside, I can't analyze it. I have seen the life story of a person who is not mentally sound. He is always simply and stubbornly insisting on doing what he is doing and what he wants to do to the extreme. Of course, in the end, he was successful in a practical sense, received an audience from the president, and lived a good life. Is this film trying to express a story of an American who struggled and succeeded? It doesn't seem so obvious, but if I want to summarize, I can't say one, two, or three.
In short, this film is worth watching. After watching, no matter what is left, it is thought-provoking and impressive.
